10*Release date: XX-XXX-2008*
11
12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +000015- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
16 a unicode argument.
17
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000018- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
19
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000020- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000021 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000022 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
23
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000024- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +000025 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
26 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
27 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
28 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
29 type object.
30
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +000031- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
32
33- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
34
35- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
36
37- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
38
Christian Heimesfb1813c2008-08-22 19:34:15 +000039- Issue #3642: Changed type of numarenas from uint to size_t
40 in order to silence a compilier warning on 64bit OSes.
41
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +000042- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
43 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
44
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +000045- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
46 ``__delslice__``.
47
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +000048- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared
49 library targets in the Makefile.
50
Benjamin Peterson14cb6bc2008-08-26 17:08:40 +000051C-API
52-----
53
54- Aliased PyObject_Bytes to PyObject_Str.
55
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000056Library
57-------
58
Marc-André Lemburg31a0a142008-09-02 12:11:19 +000059- Issue #3719: platform.architecture() fails if there are spaces in the
60 path to the Python binary.
61
Brett Cannon1eaf0742008-09-02 01:25:16 +000062- Issue 3602: Moved test.test_support.catch_warning() to
63 warnings.catch_warnings() along with some API cleanup. Expanding the tests
64 for catch_warnings() also led to an improvement in the raising of a
65 DeprecationWarning related to warnings.warn_explicit().
66
Benjamin Peterson973e6c22008-09-01 23:12:58 +000067- The deprecation warnings for the old camelCase threading API were removed.
68
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000069- logging: fixed lack of use of encoding attribute specified on a stream.
70
Christian Heimesa27a62e2008-08-22 19:55:54 +000071- Silenced a trivial compiler warning in the sqlite module.
72
Christian Heimes1cc69632008-08-22 20:10:27 +000073- Fixed two format strings in the _collections module.
74
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000075- Issue #3703: _fileio.FileIO gave unhelpful error message when trying to open a
76 directory.
Benjamin Petersonf22c26e2008-09-01 14:13:43 +000077
Gregory P. Smithd7122032008-09-02 05:36:11 +000078- Issue #3708: os.urandom no longer goes into an infinite loop when passed a
79 non-integer floating point number.
80
Benjamin Peterson37346b22008-08-23 20:27:43 +000081Extension Modules
82-----------------
83
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc293924b2008-09-02 23:19:56 +000084- Issue #2975: When compiling several extension modules with Visual Studio 2008
85 from the same python interpreter, some environment variables would grow
86 without limit.
87
Benjamin Peterson37346b22008-08-23 20:27:43 +000088- Issue #3643: Added a few more checks to _testcapi to prevent segfaults by
89 exploitation of poor argument checking.
90

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000096
97Core and Builtins
98-----------------
99
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +0000100- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
101 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
102 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
103 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
104 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
105 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
106 default.
107
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +0000108- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
109 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
110
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000111- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
112 value again.
113
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000114- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
115 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
116 and introducing s*.
117
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000118- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
119 object was stored in the freelist.
120
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000121- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
122 ValueError consistently across platforms.
123
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000124- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
125 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
126 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
127
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000128- Apply security patches from Apple.
129
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000130- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
131 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
132
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000133- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
134 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
135
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000136- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
137 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
138 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
139
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000140- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
141 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
142 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
143 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
144 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
145 failed have been fixed.
146
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000147Library
148-------
149
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000150- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
151
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000152- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
153 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
154
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000155- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
156 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
157 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
158
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000159- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
160 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
161 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
162 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
163 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
164 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
165
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000166- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
167 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
168
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000169- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
170
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000171- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
172
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000173- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
174
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000175- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
176 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
177
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000178- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
179 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
180
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000181- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
182 in a redirect.
183
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000184- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000185 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000186
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000187- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
188 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
189
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000190- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
191 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
192 regular expression.
193
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000194- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
195 thread-safe.
196
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000197- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
198 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
199 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
200
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000201- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
202
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000203- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
204 menu entries were not deleted.
205
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000206- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
207 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
208
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000209- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
210 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
211
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000212- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
213 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
214 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
215
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000216- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
217 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
218 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
219
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000220- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
221 the reload() built-in has been removed.
222
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000223- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000224 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000225 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
226 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
227 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
228 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
229 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000230
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000231- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
232 raised an AttributeError.
233
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000234- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000235 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
236 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000237
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000238- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
239 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.
240
Skip Montanarof9ac43f2008-07-27 00:50:41 +0000241- Issue 3437: Bug fix in robotparser parsing of Allow: lines.

251 invalid arguments.
252
253- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
254 with None arguments.
255
256- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
257 configuration files.
258
259- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
260
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000261- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
262 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
263 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
264
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000265- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword

267 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.
268
Martin v. Löwis8dbf3642008-08-01 14:10:26 +0000269Build

Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000274Documentation
275-------------
276
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000277- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
278 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
279
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000280- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
281 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
282 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
283 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.

288
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000289*Release date: 17-Jul-2008*
290
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000291Core and Builtins
292-----------------
293
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000294- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
295 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
296 an integer using operator.index().
297
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000298- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
299 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
300
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000301- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
302 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
303
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000304- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
305 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
306 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
307
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000308- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
309 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
310 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
311 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
312 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
313 level.
314
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000315- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
316 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
317 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
318 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000854- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
855 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
856 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
857 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
858 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
859 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
860 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support
861 for the ``line`` argument will raise a DeprecationWarning.

Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000923
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000924- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
925 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
926 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
927 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
928 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
929 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
930 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
931 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
932 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
933 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
934 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
935 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
936 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
937 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
938 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
939 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
940 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
941 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
942 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
943 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
944
945 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
946 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
947 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
948 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
949 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
950 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
951 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
952 access to the underlying socket used.
953
954 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
955 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
956 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000957
958 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000959 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000960 test_poplib, test_ftplib, test_telnetlib, test_socketserver,
961 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
962
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000963 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
964 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001236- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1237
1238- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001239
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001240- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001241 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1242
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001243- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1244 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1245 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1246 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1247 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1248 module is:
1249 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1250
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001251- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1252 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1253 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1254 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1255 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1256 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1257
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001258- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1259 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1260 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1261 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1262 PyObject_Format().
1263
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001264- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1265 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1266 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001267
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001268- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001269 prevent a possible crash: an Abstract Base Class would try to access

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001275- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1276 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1277 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001278
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001279- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1280 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1281 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001282
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001283- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1284 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1285
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001286- Limit free list of method and builtin function objects to 256
1287 entries each.
Christian Heimes6075a822008-02-06 12:44:34 +00001288
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001289- Patch #1953: Added ``sys._compact_freelists()`` and the C API
1290 functions ``PyInt_CompactFreeList`` and ``PyFloat_CompactFreeList``

1294 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1295 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001296
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001297- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001309- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1310 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1311 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001312
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001313- Issue #1920: "while 0" statements were completely removed by the
1314 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1315 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1316 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc31eaafe2008-01-24 22:59:25 +00001317
Guido van Rossumeead05f2008-01-24 18:21:02 +00001318- A few crashers fixed: weakref_in_del.py (issue #1377858);

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001424- Issue #1686386: Tuple's tp_repr did not take into account the
1425 possibility of having a self-referential tuple, which is possible
1426 from C code. Nor did object's tp_str consider that a type's tp_str
1427 could do something that could lead to an inifinite recursion.

Guido van Rossum234b1ff2007-03-23 19:39:01 +00001502 warning later). Also, type.__init__() insists on the same signature
