10*Release date: XX-XXX-2008*
11
12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +000015- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
16 a unicode argument.
17
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000018- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
19
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000020- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000021 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000022 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
23
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000024- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +000025 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
26 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
27 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
28 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
29 type object.
30
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +000031- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
32
33- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
34
35- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
36
37- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
38
Christian Heimesfb1813c2008-08-22 19:34:15 +000039- Issue #3642: Changed type of numarenas from uint to size_t
40 in order to silence a compilier warning on 64bit OSes.
41
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +000042- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
43 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
44
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +000045- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
46 ``__delslice__``.
47
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +000048- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared
49 library targets in the Makefile.
50
Benjamin Peterson14cb6bc2008-08-26 17:08:40 +000051C-API
52-----
53
54- Aliased PyObject_Bytes to PyObject_Str.
55
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000056Library
57-------
58
Brett Cannon1eaf0742008-09-02 01:25:16 +000059- Issue 3602: Moved test.test_support.catch_warning() to
60 warnings.catch_warnings() along with some API cleanup. Expanding the tests
61 for catch_warnings() also led to an improvement in the raising of a
62 DeprecationWarning related to warnings.warn_explicit().
63
Benjamin Peterson973e6c22008-09-01 23:12:58 +000064- The deprecation warnings for the old camelCase threading API were removed.
65
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000066- logging: fixed lack of use of encoding attribute specified on a stream.
67
Christian Heimesa27a62e2008-08-22 19:55:54 +000068- Silenced a trivial compiler warning in the sqlite module.
69
Christian Heimes1cc69632008-08-22 20:10:27 +000070- Fixed two format strings in the _collections module.
71
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000072- Issue #3703: _fileio.FileIO gave unhelpful error message when trying to open a
73 directory.
Benjamin Petersonf22c26e2008-09-01 14:13:43 +000074
Benjamin Peterson37346b22008-08-23 20:27:43 +000075Extension Modules
76-----------------
77
78- Issue #3643: Added a few more checks to _testcapi to prevent segfaults by
79 exploitation of poor argument checking.
80
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000081
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000082What's New in Python 2.6 beta 3?

Barry Warsaw07a4a382008-08-21 01:15:08 +000085*Release date: 20-Aug-2008*
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000086
87Core and Builtins
88-----------------
89
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +000090- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
91 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
92 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
93 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
94 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
95 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
96 default.
97
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +000098- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
99 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
100
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000101- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
102 value again.
103
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000104- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
105 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
106 and introducing s*.
107
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000108- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
109 object was stored in the freelist.
110
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000111- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
112 ValueError consistently across platforms.
113
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000114- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
115 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
116 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
117
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000118- Apply security patches from Apple.
119
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000120- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
121 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
122
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000123- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
124 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
125
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000126- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
127 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
128 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
129
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000130- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
131 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
132 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
133 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
134 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
135 failed have been fixed.
136
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000137Library
138-------
139
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000140- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
141
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000142- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
143 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
144
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000145- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
146 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
147 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
148
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000149- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
150 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
151 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
152 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
153 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
154 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
155
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000156- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
157 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
158
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000159- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
160
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000161- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
162
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000163- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
164
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000165- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
166 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
167
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000168- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
169 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
170
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000171- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
172 in a redirect.
173
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000174- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000175 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000176
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000177- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
178 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
179
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000180- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
181 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
182 regular expression.
183
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000184- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
185 thread-safe.
186
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000187- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
188 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
189 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
190
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000191- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
192
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000193- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
194 menu entries were not deleted.
195
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000196- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
197 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
198
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000199- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
200 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
201
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000202- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
203 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
204 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
205
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000206- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
207 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
208 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
209
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000210- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
211 the reload() built-in has been removed.
212
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000213- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000214 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000215 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
216 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
217 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
218 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
219 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000220
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000221- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
222 raised an AttributeError.
223
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000224- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000225 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
226 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000227
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000228- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
229 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.
230
Skip Montanarof9ac43f2008-07-27 00:50:41 +0000231- Issue 3437: Bug fix in robotparser parsing of Allow: lines.
232
Raymond Hettinger8c664e82008-07-25 18:43:33 +0000233- Issue 1592: Improve error reporting when operations are attempted
234 on a closed shelf.
235
Georg Brandlf9efabb2008-07-23 15:16:45 +0000236- Deprecate the "ast" parser function aliases.
237
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000238- Issue #3120: On 64-bit Windows the subprocess module was truncating handles.

241 invalid arguments.
242
243- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
244 with None arguments.
245
246- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
247 configuration files.
248
249- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
250
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000251- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
252 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
253 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
254
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000255- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword
256 argument in python 2.5, this broke code that subclassed Popen to include its
257 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.
258
Martin v. Löwis8dbf3642008-08-01 14:10:26 +0000259Build

262- Generate the PatternGrammar pickle during "make install".
263
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000264Documentation
265-------------
266
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000267- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
268 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
269
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000270- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
271 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
272 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
273 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.
274

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000279*Release date: 17-Jul-2008*
280
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000281Core and Builtins
282-----------------
283
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000284- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
285 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
286 an integer using operator.index().
287
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000288- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
289 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
290
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000291- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
292 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
293
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000294- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
295 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
296 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
297
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000298- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
299 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
300 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
301 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
302 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
303 level.
304
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000305- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
306 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
307 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
308 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
309 all imports from that module to fail.
310
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000311- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
312 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
313 new-style classes.
314
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000315- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
316 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
317 another file in sys.stdout.
318
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000319- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
320 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000844- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
845 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
846 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
847 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
848 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
849 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
850 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support
851 for the ``line`` argument will raise a DeprecationWarning.

898 threads at once without fear of crashing the Python interpreter. If
899 file.close() is called while an object is in use by another thread
900 an IOError exception will be raised and the file will not be closed.
901
Thomas Hellerf7906482008-04-04 19:43:25 +0000902- The bundled libffi copy is now in sync with the recently released
903 libffi3.0.5 version, apart from some small changes to
904 Modules/_ctypes/libffi/configure.ac.
905
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000906- Issue #2385: distutils.core.run_script() makes __file__ available,
907 so the controlled environment will more closely mirror the typical
908 script environment. This supports setup.py scripts that refer to
909 data files.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000914- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
915 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
916 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
917 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
918 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
919 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
920 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
921 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
922 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
923 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
924 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
925 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
926 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
927 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
928 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
929 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
930 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
931 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
932 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
933 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
934
935 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
936 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
937 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
938 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
939 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
940 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
941 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
942 access to the underlying socket used.
943
944 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
945 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
946 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000947
948 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000949 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,

951 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
952
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000953 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
954 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Barry Warsaw52973612008-03-01 02:23:38 +00001224 644. The mode is now inherited from the py file.
Christian Heimes40346852008-02-23 17:52:07 +00001225
Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001226- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1227
1228- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001229
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001230- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001231 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1232
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001233- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1234 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1235 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1236 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1237 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1238 module is:
1239 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1240
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001241- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1242 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1243 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1244 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1245 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1246 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1247
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001248- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1249 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1250 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1251 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1252 PyObject_Format().
1253
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001254- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1255 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1256 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001257
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001258- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

1266 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1267 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001268
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001269- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1270 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1271 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001272
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001273- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1274 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1275

1284 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1285 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001286
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001287- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001414- Issue #1686386: Tuple's tp_repr did not take into account the
1415 possibility of having a self-referential tuple, which is possible
1416 from C code. Nor did object's tp_str consider that a type's tp_str
1417 could do something that could lead to an inifinite recursion.
1418 Py_ReprEnter() and Py_EnterRecursiveCall(), respectively, fixed the
1419 issues.

Guido van Rossum234b1ff2007-03-23 19:39:01 +00001492 warning later). Also, type.__init__() insists on the same signature

2914 lists in Object/ are named ``free_list``, the counter ``numfree``

2919 to ``PyTuple_SetItem``, it can be used to populate a brand new

2935 when PY_SSIZE_T_CLEAN is set. The str.decode method used to return
2936 incorrect results with huge strings.
