176-----------------
177
Martin v. Löwis9fa5a282008-09-11 06:53:30 +0000178- Issue #3642: Suppress warning in obmalloc when size_t is larger than uint.
179
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc05e34492008-09-10 22:04:45 +0000180- Issue #3743: In a few places, PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T was incorrectly used with
181 PyString_FromFormat or PyErr_Format to display size_t values. The macro
182 PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T is designed to select the correct format for the OS
183 ``printf`` function, whereas PyString_FromFormat has an independent
184 implementation and uses "%zd" on all platforms for size_t values.
185 This makes a difference on win64, where ``printf`` needs "%Id" to display
186 64bit values.
187
Benjamin Peterson97179b02008-09-09 20:55:01 +0000188- Issue #3634: _weakref.ref(Exception).__init__() gave invalid return value on
189 error.
190
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd3ffb892008-09-09 07:24:30 +0000191- Issue #3777: long() applied to a float object now always return a long
192 object; previously an int would be returned for small values. the __long__
193 method is allowed to return either an int or a long, but the behaviour of
194 float objects should not change to respect backward compatibility.
195
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +0000196- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
197 a unicode argument.

Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000202 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000203 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
204
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000205- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +0000206 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
207 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
208 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
209 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
210 type object.
211
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +0000212- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
213
214- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
215
216- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
217
218- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
219
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +0000220- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
221 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
222
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +0000223- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
224 ``__delslice__``.
225
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +0000226- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared
227 library targets in the Makefile.
228
Gregory P. Smith980b99b2008-09-07 05:15:18 +0000229- Issue #1204: The configure script now tests for additional libraries
230 that may be required when linking against readline. This fixes issues
231 with x86_64 builds on some platforms (a few Linux flavors and OpenBSD).

351Core and Builtins
352-----------------
353
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +0000354- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
355 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
356 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
357 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
358 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
359 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
360 default.
361
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +0000362- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
363 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
364
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000365- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
366 value again.
367
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000368- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
369 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
370 and introducing s*.
371
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000372- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
373 object was stored in the freelist.
374
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000375- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
376 ValueError consistently across platforms.
377
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000378- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
379 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
380 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
381
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000382- Apply security patches from Apple.
383
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000384- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
385 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
386
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000387- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
388 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
389
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000390- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
391 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
392 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
393
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000394- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
395 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
396 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
397 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
398 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
399 failed have been fixed.

402-------
403
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000404- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
405
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000406- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
407 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
408
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000409- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
410 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
411 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
412
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000413- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
414 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
415 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
416 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
417 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
418 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
419
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000420- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
421 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
422
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000423- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
424
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000425- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
426
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000427- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
428
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000429- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
430 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
431
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000432- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
433 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
434
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000435- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
436 in a redirect.
437
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000438- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000439 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000440
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000441- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
442 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
443
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000444- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
445 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
446 regular expression.
447
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000448- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
449 thread-safe.
450
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000451- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
452 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
453 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
454
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000455- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
456
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000457- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
458 menu entries were not deleted.
459
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000460- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
461 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
462
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000463- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
464 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
465
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000466- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
467 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
468 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
469
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000470- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
471 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
472 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
473
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000474- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
475 the reload() built-in has been removed.
476
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000477- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000478 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,

483 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000484
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000485- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
486 raised an AttributeError.
487
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000488- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000489 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
490 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000491
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000492- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
493 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.

512
513- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
514
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000515- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
516 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
517 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
518
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000519- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword

533
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000534- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed

Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000545Core and Builtins
546-----------------
547
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000548- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
549 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
550 an integer using operator.index().
551
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000552- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
553 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
554
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000555- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
556 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
557
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000558- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
559 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
560 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
561
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000562- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
563 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
564 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
565 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
566 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
567 level.
568
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000569- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
570 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
571 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
572 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
573 all imports from that module to fail.
574
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000575- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
576 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
577 new-style classes.
578
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000579- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
580 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
581 another file in sys.stdout.
582
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000583- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
584 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
585 another thread's dictionary.
586
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000587- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
588 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
589 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
590 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
591 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
592 10, -1).
593
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000594- Issue #3219: Calling a function with repeated keyword arguments,
595 f(a=2, a=23), would not cause a syntax error. This was a regression
596 from 2.4 caused by the switch to the new compiler.
Benjamin Peterson175e4d92008-07-01 19:34:52 +0000597
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000598- Issue #2862: Make int and float freelist management consistent with
599 other freelists. Changes their CompactFreeList apis into
600 ClearFreeList apis and calls them via gc.collect().

606 api functions without holding the GIL, which could lead to a fatal
607 error when they failed.
608
Martin v. Löwisaabf4042008-08-02 07:20:25 +0000609- Issue #799428: Fix Tkinter.Misc._nametowidget to unwrap Tcl command objects.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001108- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
1109 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
1110 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
1111 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
1112 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
1113 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
1114 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001178- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
1179 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
1180 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
1181 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
1182 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always

1187 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
1188 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
1189 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
1190 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
1191 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
1192 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
1193 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
1194 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
1195 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
1196 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
1197 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
1198
1199 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
1200 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
1201 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
1202 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
1203 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
1204 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
1205 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
1206 access to the underlying socket used.
1207
1208 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
1209 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
1210 connect).

Barry Warsaw52973612008-03-01 02:23:38 +00001488 644. The mode is now inherited from the py file.
Christian Heimes40346852008-02-23 17:52:07 +00001489
Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001490- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1491
1492- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001493
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001494- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001495 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1496
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001497- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1498 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1499 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1500 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1501 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1502 module is:
1503 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1504
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001505- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1506 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1507 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1508 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1509 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1510 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1511
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001512- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1513 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1514 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1515 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1516 PyObject_Format().
1517
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001518- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1519 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1520 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001521
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001522- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001523 prevent a possible crash: an Abstract Base Class would try to access
1524 a slot on a registered virtual subclass.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001529- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1530 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1531 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001532
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001533- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1534 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1535 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001536
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001537- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1538 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1539
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001540- Limit free list of method and builtin function objects to 256
1541 entries each.
Christian Heimes6075a822008-02-06 12:44:34 +00001542
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001543- Patch #1953: Added ``sys._compact_freelists()`` and the C API

1548 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1549 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001550
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001551- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001563- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1564 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1565 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001566
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001567- Issue #1920: "while 0" statements were completely removed by the
1568 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1569 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1570 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc31eaafe2008-01-24 22:59:25 +00001571

3175-----
3176
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003177- Unified naming convention for free lists and their limits. All free
3178 lists in Object/ are named ``free_list``, the counter ``numfree``
3179 and the upper limit is a macro ``PyName_MAXFREELIST`` inside an
3180 #ifndef block.
Christian Heimes5b970ad2008-02-06 13:33:44 +00003181
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003182- ``PySet_Add()`` can now modify a newly created frozenset. Similarly
3183 to ``PyTuple_SetItem``, it can be used to populate a brand new
3184 frozenset; but it does not steal a reference to the added item.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arccab3d982008-02-03 22:51:43 +00003185
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00003186- Added ``PySet_Check()`` and ``PyFrozenSet_Check()`` to the set API.

3189 and _FormatV from Python 3.0. Made PyLong_AsSsize_t and
3190 PyLong_FromSsize_t public functions.
Georg Brandl6caad7d2008-01-26 14:19:22 +00003191
3192- Patch #1720595: add T_BOOL to the range of structmember types.
3193
3194- Issue #1534: Added ``PyFloat_GetMax()``, ``PyFloat_GetMin()`` and
3195 ``PyFloat_GetInfo()`` to the float API.
3196
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003197- Issue #1521: On 64bit platforms, using PyArgs_ParseTuple with the t#
3198 of w# format code incorrectly truncated the length to an int, even
3199 when PY_SSIZE_T_CLEAN is set. The str.decode method used to return
3200 incorrect results with huge strings.
Georg Brandl6caad7d2008-01-26 14:19:22 +00003201
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003202- Issue #1629: Renamed Py_Size, Py_Type and Py_Refcnt to Py_SIZE,

3220- Fix some leftovers from the conversion from int to Py_ssize_t
3221 (relevant to strings and sequences of more than 2**31 items).
3222
3223- Make _PyGILState_NoteThreadState() static, it was not used anywhere
3224 outside of pystate.c and should not be necessary.
3225
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003226- ``PyImport_Import`` and ``PyImport_ImportModule`` now always do

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003258- Removed the macfs module. It had been deprecated since Python 2.5.
