11
12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +000015- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
16 a unicode argument.
17
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000018- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
19
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000020- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000021 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000022 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
23
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000024- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +000025 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
26 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
27 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
28 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
29 type object.
30
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +000031- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
32
33- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
34
35- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
36
37- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
38
Christian Heimesfb1813c2008-08-22 19:34:15 +000039- Issue #3642: Changed type of numarenas from uint to size_t
40 in order to silence a compilier warning on 64bit OSes.
41
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +000042- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
43 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
44
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +000045- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
46 ``__delslice__``.
47
Benjamin Peterson14cb6bc2008-08-26 17:08:40 +000048C-API
49-----
50
51- Aliased PyObject_Bytes to PyObject_Str.
52
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000053Library
54-------
55
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000056- logging: fixed lack of use of encoding attribute specified on a stream.
57
Christian Heimesa27a62e2008-08-22 19:55:54 +000058- Silenced a trivial compiler warning in the sqlite module.
59
Christian Heimes1cc69632008-08-22 20:10:27 +000060- Fixed two format strings in the _collections module.
61
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000062- Issue #3703: _fileio.FileIO gave unhelpful error message when trying to open a
63 directory.
Benjamin Petersonf22c26e2008-09-01 14:13:43 +000064
Benjamin Peterson37346b22008-08-23 20:27:43 +000065Extension Modules
66-----------------
67
68- Issue #3643: Added a few more checks to _testcapi to prevent segfaults by
69 exploitation of poor argument checking.
70
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000071
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000072What's New in Python 2.6 beta 3?

74
Barry Warsaw07a4a382008-08-21 01:15:08 +000075*Release date: 20-Aug-2008*
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000076
77Core and Builtins
78-----------------
79
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +000080- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
81 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
82 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
83 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
84 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
85 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
86 default.
87
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +000088- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
89 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
90
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +000091- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
92 value again.
93
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +000094- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
95 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
96 and introducing s*.
97
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +000098- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
99 object was stored in the freelist.
100
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000101- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
102 ValueError consistently across platforms.
103
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000104- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
105 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
106 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
107
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000108- Apply security patches from Apple.
109
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000110- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
111 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
112
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000113- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
114 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
115
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000116- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
117 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
118 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
119
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000120- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
121 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
122 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
123 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
124 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
125 failed have been fixed.
126
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000127Library
128-------
129
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000130- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
131
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000132- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
133 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
134
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000135- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
136 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
137 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
138
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000139- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
140 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
141 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
142 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
143 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
144 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
145
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000146- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
147 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
148
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000149- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
150
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000151- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
152
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000153- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
154
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000155- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
156 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
157
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000158- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
159 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
160
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000161- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
162 in a redirect.
163
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000164- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000165 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000166
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000167- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
168 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
169
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000170- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
171 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
172 regular expression.
173
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000174- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
175 thread-safe.
176
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000177- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
178 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
179 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
180
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000181- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
182
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000183- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
184 menu entries were not deleted.
185
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000186- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
187 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
188
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000189- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
190 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
191
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000192- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
193 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
194 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
195
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000196- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
197 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
198 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
199
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000200- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
201 the reload() built-in has been removed.
202
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000203- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000204 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000205 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
206 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
207 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
208 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
209 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000210
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000211- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
212 raised an AttributeError.
213
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000214- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000215 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
216 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000217
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000218- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
219 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.
220
Skip Montanarof9ac43f2008-07-27 00:50:41 +0000221- Issue 3437: Bug fix in robotparser parsing of Allow: lines.
222
Raymond Hettinger8c664e82008-07-25 18:43:33 +0000223- Issue 1592: Improve error reporting when operations are attempted
224 on a closed shelf.
225
Georg Brandlf9efabb2008-07-23 15:16:45 +0000226- Deprecate the "ast" parser function aliases.
227
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000228- Issue #3120: On 64-bit Windows the subprocess module was truncating handles.
229
230- Issue #3303: Fix a crash in locale.strcoll() when calling it with
231 invalid arguments.
232
233- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
234 with None arguments.
235
236- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
237 configuration files.
238
239- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
240
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000241- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
242 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
243 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
244
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000245- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword
246 argument in python 2.5, this broke code that subclassed Popen to include its
247 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.
248
Martin v. Löwis8dbf3642008-08-01 14:10:26 +0000249Build
250-----

253
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000254Documentation
255-------------
256
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000257- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
258 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
259
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000260- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
261 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
262 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
263 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.
264
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000265

268
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000269*Release date: 17-Jul-2008*
270
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000271Core and Builtins
272-----------------
273
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000274- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
275 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
276 an integer using operator.index().
277
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000278- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
279 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
280
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000281- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
282 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
283
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000284- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
285 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
286 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
287
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000288- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
289 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
290 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
291 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
292 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
293 level.
294
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000295- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
296 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
297 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
298 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
299 all imports from that module to fail.
300
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000301- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
302 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
303 new-style classes.
304
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000305- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
306 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
307 another file in sys.stdout.
308
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000309- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
310 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
311 another thread's dictionary.
312
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000313- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
314 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
315 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
316 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
317 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
318 10, -1).
319
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000320- Issue #3219: Calling a function with repeated keyword arguments,

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000834- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
835 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
836 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
837 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
838 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
839 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
840 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support

890 an IOError exception will be raised and the file will not be closed.
891
Thomas Hellerf7906482008-04-04 19:43:25 +0000892- The bundled libffi copy is now in sync with the recently released
893 libffi3.0.5 version, apart from some small changes to
894 Modules/_ctypes/libffi/configure.ac.
895
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000896- Issue #2385: distutils.core.run_script() makes __file__ available,
897 so the controlled environment will more closely mirror the typical
898 script environment. This supports setup.py scripts that refer to
899 data files.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000904- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
905 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
906 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
907 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
908 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
909 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
910 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
911 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
912 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
913 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
914 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
915 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
916 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
917 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
918 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
919 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
920 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
921 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
922 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
923 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
924
925 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
926 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
927 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
928 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
929 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
930 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
931 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
932 access to the underlying socket used.
933
934 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
935 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
936 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000937
938 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000939 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,

941 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
942
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000943 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
944 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001216- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1217
1218- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001219
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001220- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001221 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1222
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001223- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1224 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1225 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1226 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1227 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1228 module is:
1229 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1230
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001231- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1232 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1233 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1234 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1235 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1236 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1237
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001238- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1239 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1240 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1241 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1242 PyObject_Format().
1243
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001244- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1245 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1246 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001247
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001248- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001255- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1256 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1257 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001258
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001259- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1260 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1261 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001262
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001263- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1264 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1265

1274 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1275 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001276
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001277- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001289- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1290 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1291 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001292

1294 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1295 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1296 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001404- Issue #1686386: Tuple's tp_repr did not take into account the

2904 lists in Object/ are named ``free_list``, the counter ``numfree``
2905 and the upper limit is a macro ``PyName_MAXFREELIST`` inside an
2906 #ifndef block.
Christian Heimes5b970ad2008-02-06 13:33:44 +00002907
