11
12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000015- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
16
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000017- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000018 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000019 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
20
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000021- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +000022 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
23 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
24 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
25 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
26 type object.
27
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +000028- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
29
30- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
31
32- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
33
34- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
35
Christian Heimesfb1813c2008-08-22 19:34:15 +000036- Issue #3642: Changed type of numarenas from uint to size_t
37 in order to silence a compilier warning on 64bit OSes.
38
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +000039- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
40 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
41
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +000042- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
43 ``__delslice__``.
44
Benjamin Peterson14cb6bc2008-08-26 17:08:40 +000045C-API
46-----
47
48- Aliased PyObject_Bytes to PyObject_Str.
49
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000050Library
51-------
52
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000053- logging: fixed lack of use of encoding attribute specified on a stream.
54
Christian Heimesa27a62e2008-08-22 19:55:54 +000055- Silenced a trivial compiler warning in the sqlite module.
56
Christian Heimes1cc69632008-08-22 20:10:27 +000057- Fixed two format strings in the _collections module.
58
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000059- Issue #3703: _fileio.FileIO gave unhelpful error message when trying to open a
60 directory.
Benjamin Petersonf22c26e2008-09-01 14:13:43 +000061
Benjamin Peterson37346b22008-08-23 20:27:43 +000062Extension Modules
63-----------------
64
65- Issue #3643: Added a few more checks to _testcapi to prevent segfaults by
66 exploitation of poor argument checking.
67

71
Barry Warsaw07a4a382008-08-21 01:15:08 +000072*Release date: 20-Aug-2008*
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000073
74Core and Builtins
75-----------------
76
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +000077- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
78 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
79 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
80 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
81 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
82 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
83 default.
84
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +000085- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
86 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
87
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +000088- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
89 value again.
90
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +000091- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
92 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
93 and introducing s*.
94
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +000095- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
96 object was stored in the freelist.
97
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +000098- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
99 ValueError consistently across platforms.
100
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000101- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
102 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
103 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
104
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000105- Apply security patches from Apple.
106
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000107- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
108 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
109
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000110- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
111 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
112
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000113- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
114 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
115 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
116
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000117- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
118 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
119 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
120 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
121 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
122 failed have been fixed.
123
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000124Library
125-------
126
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000127- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
128
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000129- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
130 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
131
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000132- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
133 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
134 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
135
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000136- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
137 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
138 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
139 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
140 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
141 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
142
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000143- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
144 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
145
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000146- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
147
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000148- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
149
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000150- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
151
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000152- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
153 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
154
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000155- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
156 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
157
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000158- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
159 in a redirect.
160
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000161- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000162 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000163
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000164- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
165 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
166
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000167- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
168 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
169 regular expression.
170
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000171- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
172 thread-safe.
173
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000174- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
175 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
176 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
177
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000178- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
179
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000180- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
181 menu entries were not deleted.
182
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000183- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
184 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
185
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000186- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
187 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
188
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000189- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
190 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
191 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
192
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000193- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
194 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
195 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
196
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000197- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
198 the reload() built-in has been removed.
199
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000200- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000201 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000202 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
203 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
204 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
205 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
206 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000207
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000208- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
209 raised an AttributeError.
210
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000211- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000212 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
213 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000214
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000215- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
216 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.
217
Skip Montanarof9ac43f2008-07-27 00:50:41 +0000218- Issue 3437: Bug fix in robotparser parsing of Allow: lines.
219
Raymond Hettinger8c664e82008-07-25 18:43:33 +0000220- Issue 1592: Improve error reporting when operations are attempted
221 on a closed shelf.
222
Georg Brandlf9efabb2008-07-23 15:16:45 +0000223- Deprecate the "ast" parser function aliases.
224
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000225- Issue #3120: On 64-bit Windows the subprocess module was truncating handles.
226
227- Issue #3303: Fix a crash in locale.strcoll() when calling it with
228 invalid arguments.
229
230- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
231 with None arguments.
232
233- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
234 configuration files.
235
236- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
237
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000238- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
239 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
240 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
241
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000242- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword
243 argument in python 2.5, this broke code that subclassed Popen to include its
244 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.
245
Martin v. Löwis8dbf3642008-08-01 14:10:26 +0000246Build
247-----

249- Generate the PatternGrammar pickle during "make install".
250
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000251Documentation
252-------------
253
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000254- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
255 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
256
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000257- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
258 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
259 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
260 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.
261

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000266*Release date: 17-Jul-2008*
267
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000268Core and Builtins
269-----------------
270
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000271- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
272 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
273 an integer using operator.index().
274
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000275- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
276 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
277
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000278- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
279 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
280
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000281- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
282 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
283 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
284
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000285- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
286 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
287 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
288 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
289 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
290 level.
291
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000292- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
293 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
294 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
295 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
296 all imports from that module to fail.
297
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000298- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
299 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
300 new-style classes.
301
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000302- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
303 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
304 another file in sys.stdout.
305
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000306- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
307 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
308 another thread's dictionary.
309
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000310- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
311 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
312 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
313 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
314 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
315 10, -1).
316
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000317- Issue #3219: Calling a function with repeated keyword arguments,
318 f(a=2, a=23), would not cause a syntax error. This was a regression

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000831- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
832 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
833 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
834 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
835 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
836 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
837 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000901- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
902 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
903 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
904 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
905 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
906 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
907 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
908 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
909 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
910 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
911 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
912 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
913 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
914 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
915 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
916 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
917 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
918 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
919 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
920 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
921
922 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
923 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
924 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
925 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
926 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
927 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
928 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
929 access to the underlying socket used.
930
931 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
932 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
933 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000934
935 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000936 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000937 test_poplib, test_ftplib, test_telnetlib, test_socketserver,
938 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
939
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000940 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
941 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Barry Warsaw52973612008-03-01 02:23:38 +00001211 644. The mode is now inherited from the py file.
Christian Heimes40346852008-02-23 17:52:07 +00001212
Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001213- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1214
1215- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001216
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001217- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001218 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1219
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001220- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1221 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1222 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1223 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1224 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1225 module is:
1226 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1227
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001228- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1229 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1230 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1231 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1232 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1233 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1234
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001235- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1236 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1237 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1238 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1239 PyObject_Format().
1240
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001241- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1242 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1243 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001244
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001245- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001246 prevent a possible crash: an Abstract Base Class would try to access
1247 a slot on a registered virtual subclass.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001252- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1253 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1254 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001255
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001256- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1257 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1258 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001259
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001260- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1261 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1262

1271 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1272 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001273

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001286- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1287 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1288 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001289

1291 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1292 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1293 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.

1403 from C code. Nor did object's tp_str consider that a type's tp_str
1404 could do something that could lead to an inifinite recursion.
1405 Py_ReprEnter() and Py_EnterRecursiveCall(), respectively, fixed the
1406 issues.

2901 lists in Object/ are named ``free_list``, the counter ``numfree``
2902 and the upper limit is a macro ``PyName_MAXFREELIST`` inside an
2903 #ifndef block.
Christian Heimes5b970ad2008-02-06 13:33:44 +00002904

2906 to ``PyTuple_SetItem``, it can be used to populate a brand new

2922 when PY_SSIZE_T_CLEAN is set. The str.decode method used to return
2923 incorrect results with huge strings.
