13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcad9b5992008-12-10 23:22:49 +000015- Issue #4597: Fixed exception handling when the __exit__ function of a

17
Jeffrey Yasskinffd42cf2008-12-10 07:35:02 +000018- Issue #4597: Fixed several opcodes that weren't always propagating
19 exceptions.
20
Mark Dickinson826f3fe2008-12-05 21:55:28 +000021- Issue #4445: Replace "sizeof(PyStringObject)" with
22 "offsetof(PyStringObject, ob_sval) + 1" when allocating memory for
23 str instances. On a typical machine this saves 3 bytes of memory
24 (on average) per string allocation.
25
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcdc619012008-11-22 20:01:18 +000026- Issue #3996: On Windows, the PyOS_CheckStack function would cause the
27 interpreter to abort ("Fatal Python error: Could not reset the stack!")
28 instead of throwing a MemoryError.
29
Raymond Hettinger7989a4d2008-12-03 15:42:10 +000030- Issue #3689: The list reversed iterator now supports __length_hint__
31 instead of __len__. Behavior now matches other reversed iterators.
32
Benjamin Petersonc078f922008-11-21 22:27:24 +000033- Issue #4367: Python would segfault during compiling when the unicodedata
34 module couldn't be imported and \N escapes were present.
35
Vinay Sajip213faca2008-12-03 23:22:58 +000036- Issue #4233: Changed semantic of ``_fileio.FileIO``'s ``close()``
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc32265652008-11-20 23:34:31 +000037 method on file objects with closefd=False. The file descriptor is still
38 kept open but the file object behaves like a closed file. The ``FileIO``
39 object also got a new readonly attribute ``closefd``.
40
Benjamin Peterson46cc6d12008-11-19 21:49:09 +000041- Issue #4348: Some bytearray methods returned that didn't cause any change to
42 the bytearray, returned the same bytearray instead of a copy.
43
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc7cfe7ea2008-11-18 22:19:37 +000044- Issue #4317: Fixed a crash in the imageop.rgb2rgb8() function.

47
Benjamin Peterson6624a9f2008-11-03 15:14:51 +000048- Issue #4048: The parser module now correctly validates relative imports.
49

54 method does not return iterators for the 4th and 5th items.
55
Benjamin Petersonbdca9422008-10-26 20:21:13 +000056- Issue #4209: Enabling unicode_literals and the print_function in the same
57 __future__ import didn't work.
58
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000059- Using ``nonlocal`` as a variable name will now raise a Py3k SyntaxWarning
Georg Brandl7fb00ad2008-10-25 07:00:52 +000060 because it is a reserved word in 3.x.
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000061
Hirokazu Yamamoto10a018c2008-10-09 10:00:30 +000062- On windows, os.chdir given unicode was not working if GetCurrentDirectoryW
63 returned a path longer than MAX_PATH. (But It's doubtful this code path is
64 really executed because I cannot move to such directory on win2k)
65
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd78b9dc2008-10-07 20:32:10 +000066- Issue #4069: When set.remove(element) is used with a set element, the element
67 is temporarily replaced with an equivalent frozenset. But the eventual
68 KeyError would always report the empty frozenset([]) as the missing key. Now
69 it correctly refers to the initial element.
70
Antoine Pitrouae5bece2008-12-06 21:29:24 +000071- Issue #4509: Various issues surrounding resize of bytearray objects to
72 which there are buffer exports.

103 captureWarnings(). This change includes a NullHandler which does nothing;
104 it will be of use to library developers who want to avoid the "No handlers
105 could be found for logger XXX" message which can appear if the library user
106 doesn't configure logging.

257
Martin v. Löwis9fa5a282008-09-11 06:53:30 +0000258- Issue #3642: Suppress warning in obmalloc when size_t is larger than uint.
259
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc05e34492008-09-10 22:04:45 +0000260- Issue #3743: In a few places, PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T was incorrectly used with
261 PyString_FromFormat or PyErr_Format to display size_t values. The macro
262 PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T is designed to select the correct format for the OS
263 ``printf`` function, whereas PyString_FromFormat has an independent
264 implementation and uses "%zd" on all platforms for size_t values.
265 This makes a difference on win64, where ``printf`` needs "%Id" to display
266 64bit values.
267
Benjamin Peterson97179b02008-09-09 20:55:01 +0000268- Issue #3634: _weakref.ref(Exception).__init__() gave invalid return value on

270
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd3ffb892008-09-09 07:24:30 +0000271- Issue #3777: long() applied to a float object now always return a long
272 object; previously an int would be returned for small values. the __long__
273 method is allowed to return either an int or a long, but the behaviour of
274 float objects should not change to respect backward compatibility.
275
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +0000276- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with

Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000282 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000283 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
284
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000285- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +0000286 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
287 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
288 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
289 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
290 type object.
291
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +0000292- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
293
294- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
295
296- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
297
298- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
299
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +0000300- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
301 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
302
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +0000303- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
304 ``__delslice__``.
305
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +0000306- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000430
431Core and Builtins
432-----------------
433
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +0000434- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
435 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
436 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
437 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
438 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
439 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
440 default.
441
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +0000442- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
443 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
444
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000445- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
446 value again.
447
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000448- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
449 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
450 and introducing s*.
451
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000452- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
453 object was stored in the freelist.
454
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000455- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
456 ValueError consistently across platforms.
457
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000458- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
459 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
460 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
461
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000462- Apply security patches from Apple.
463
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000464- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
465 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
466
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000467- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
468 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
469
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000470- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
471 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
472 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
473
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000474- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
475 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
476 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
477 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
478 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
479 failed have been fixed.
480
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000481Library
482-------
483
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000484- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
485
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000486- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
487 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
488
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000489- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
490 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
491 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
492
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000493- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
494 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
495 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
496 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
497 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
498 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
499
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000500- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
501 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
502
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000503- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
504
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000505- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
506
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000507- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
508
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000509- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
510 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
511
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000512- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
513 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
514
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000515- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
516 in a redirect.
517
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000518- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000519 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000520
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000521- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
522 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
523
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000524- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
525 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
526 regular expression.
527
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000528- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
529 thread-safe.
530
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000531- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
532 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
533 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
534
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000535- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
536
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000537- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
538 menu entries were not deleted.
539
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000540- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
541 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
542
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000543- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
544 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
545
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000546- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
547 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
548 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
549
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000550- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
551 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
552 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
553
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000554- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
555 the reload() built-in has been removed.
556

Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000564
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000565- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
566 raised an AttributeError.
567

Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000569 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
570 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000571
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000572- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification

594
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000595- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
596 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
597 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
598
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000599- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword

624
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000625Core and Builtins
626-----------------
627
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000628- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
629 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
630 an integer using operator.index().
631
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000632- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
633 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
634
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000635- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
636 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
637
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000638- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
639 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
640 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
641
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000642- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
643 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
644 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
645 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
646 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
647 level.
648
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000649- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
650 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
651 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
652 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
653 all imports from that module to fail.
654
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000655- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
656 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
657 new-style classes.
658
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000659- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
660 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
661 another file in sys.stdout.
662
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000663- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
664 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
665 another thread's dictionary.
666
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000667- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
668 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
669 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
670 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
671 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
672 10, -1).
673
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000674- Issue #3219: Calling a function with repeated keyword arguments,
675 f(a=2, a=23), would not cause a syntax error. This was a regression
676 from 2.4 caused by the switch to the new compiler.
Benjamin Peterson175e4d92008-07-01 19:34:52 +0000677
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000678- Issue #2862: Make int and float freelist management consistent with
679 other freelists. Changes their CompactFreeList apis into
680 ClearFreeList apis and calls them via gc.collect().
Gregory P. Smith2fe77062008-07-06 03:35:58 +0000681
Brett Cannon8bb8fa52008-07-02 01:57:08 +0000682Library
683-------
684
Thomas Heller57adf222008-08-14 19:10:48 +0000685- Issue #3554: ctypes.string_at and ctypes.wstring_at did call Python
686 api functions without holding the GIL, which could lead to a fatal
687 error when they failed.
688
Martin v. Löwisaabf4042008-08-02 07:20:25 +0000689- Issue #799428: Fix Tkinter.Misc._nametowidget to unwrap Tcl command objects.

696
Jesse Noller13e9d582008-07-16 14:32:36 +0000697- Issue #3125: Remove copy_reg in multiprocessing and replace it with
698 ForkingPickler.register() to resolve conflict with ctypes.
699
Vinay Sajip51e65192008-07-18 09:01:10 +0000700- Issue #3090: Fixed ARCHFLAGS parsing on OS/X

Thomas Heller880f5292008-07-15 19:39:38 +0000702- Issue #3313: Fixed a crash when a failed dlopen() call does not set

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc0f7cddc2008-07-06 21:34:39 +0000714- Issue #839496: SimpleHTTPServer used to open text files in text mode. This is
715 both unnecessary (HTTP allows text content to be sent in several forms) and
Andrew M. Kuchlingcc3f2b12008-07-10 14:43:31 +0000716 wrong because the actual transmitted size could differ from the
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc0f7cddc2008-07-06 21:34:39 +0000717 content-length. The problem had been corrected in the 2.4 branch, but never
718 merged into trunk.

Nick Coghlanc060b0e2008-07-02 13:09:19 +0000733- Issue #3190: Pydoc now hides the automatic module attribute __package__ (the
734 handling is now the same as that of other special attributes like __name__).
735
Brett Cannon8bb8fa52008-07-02 01:57:08 +0000736- Issue #2885 (partial): The urllib.urlopen() function has been deprecated for

747 redundant ":443" port number designation when the connection is using the
748 default https port (443).

751 up in the child process to prevent deadlock and report proper thread counts
752 if the new process uses the threading module.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001188- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
1189 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
1190 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
1191 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
1192 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
1193 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
1194 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support
1195 for the ``line`` argument will raise a DeprecationWarning.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001258- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
1259 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
1260 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
1261 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
1262 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
1263 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
1264 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
1265 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
1266 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
1267 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
1268 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
1269 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
1270 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
1271 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
1272 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
1273 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
1274 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
1275 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
1276 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
1277 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
1278
1279 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
1280 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
1281 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
1282 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
1283 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
1284 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
1285 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
1286 access to the underlying socket used.
1287
1288 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
1289 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
1290 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +00001291
1292 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001293 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,

1295 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
1296
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001297 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
1298 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001575 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1576
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001577- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1578 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1579 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1580 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1581 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1582 module is:
1583 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1584
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001585- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1586 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1587 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1588 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1589 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1590 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1591
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001592- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1593 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1594 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1595 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1596 PyObject_Format().
1597
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001598- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1599 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1600 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001601
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001602- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

1610 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1611 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001612
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001613- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1614 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1615 to a bound method.

1628 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1629 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001630
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001631- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001643- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1644 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1645 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001646
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001647- Issue #1920: "while 0" statements were completely removed by the
1648 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1649 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1650 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.

Gregory P. Smithec10a4a2007-11-05 02:32:26 +00002916- pybsddb.sf.net Bug #477182: Load the database flags at database open
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00002917 time so that opening a database previously created with the DB_DUP
2918 or DB_DUPSORT flag set will keep the proper behavior on subsequent
