12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcdc619012008-11-22 20:01:18 +000015- Issue #3996: On Windows, the PyOS_CheckStack function would cause the
16 interpreter to abort ("Fatal Python error: Could not reset the stack!")
17 instead of throwing a MemoryError.
18
Raymond Hettinger7989a4d2008-12-03 15:42:10 +000019- Issue #3689: The list reversed iterator now supports __length_hint__
20 instead of __len__. Behavior now matches other reversed iterators.
21
Benjamin Petersonc078f922008-11-21 22:27:24 +000022- Issue #4367: Python would segfault during compiling when the unicodedata
23 module couldn't be imported and \N escapes were present.
24
Vinay Sajip213faca2008-12-03 23:22:58 +000025- Issue #4233: Changed semantic of ``_fileio.FileIO``'s ``close()``
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc32265652008-11-20 23:34:31 +000026 method on file objects with closefd=False. The file descriptor is still
27 kept open but the file object behaves like a closed file. The ``FileIO``
28 object also got a new readonly attribute ``closefd``.
29
Benjamin Peterson46cc6d12008-11-19 21:49:09 +000030- Issue #4348: Some bytearray methods returned that didn't cause any change to
31 the bytearray, returned the same bytearray instead of a copy.
32
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc7cfe7ea2008-11-18 22:19:37 +000033- Issue #4317: Fixed a crash in the imageop.rgb2rgb8() function.
34
Benjamin Peterson273c2332008-11-17 22:39:09 +000035- Issue #4230: If ``__getattr__`` is a descriptor, it now functions correctly.
36
Benjamin Peterson6624a9f2008-11-03 15:14:51 +000037- Issue #4048: The parser module now correctly validates relative imports.
38
Benjamin Petersondcee09d2008-10-31 02:16:05 +000039- Issue #4225: ``from __future__ import unicode_literals`` didn't work in an
40 exec statement.
41
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc69a9c5b2008-10-30 21:18:34 +000042- Issue #4176: Fixed a crash when pickling an object which ``__reduce__``
43 method does not return iterators for the 4th and 5th items.
44
Benjamin Petersonbdca9422008-10-26 20:21:13 +000045- Issue #4209: Enabling unicode_literals and the print_function in the same
46 __future__ import didn't work.
47
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000048- Using ``nonlocal`` as a variable name will now raise a Py3k SyntaxWarning
Georg Brandl7fb00ad2008-10-25 07:00:52 +000049 because it is a reserved word in 3.x.
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000050
Hirokazu Yamamoto10a018c2008-10-09 10:00:30 +000051- On windows, os.chdir given unicode was not working if GetCurrentDirectoryW
52 returned a path longer than MAX_PATH. (But It's doubtful this code path is
53 really executed because I cannot move to such directory on win2k)
54
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd78b9dc2008-10-07 20:32:10 +000055- Issue #4069: When set.remove(element) is used with a set element, the element
56 is temporarily replaced with an equivalent frozenset. But the eventual
57 KeyError would always report the empty frozenset([]) as the missing key. Now
58 it correctly refers to the initial element.
59
Barry Warsaw12582c92008-10-02 03:33:51 +000060Library

68 Content-Disposition headers.
69
Vinay Sajip6831d6b2008-12-04 20:32:18 +000070- Issue #4384: Added logging integration with warnings module using
71 captureWarnings(). This change includes a NullHandler which does nothing;
72 it will be of use to library developers who want to avoid the "No handlers
73 could be found for logger XXX" message which can appear if the library user
74 doesn't configure logging.
Vinay Sajip213faca2008-12-03 23:22:58 +000075

222
Martin v. Löwis9fa5a282008-09-11 06:53:30 +0000223- Issue #3642: Suppress warning in obmalloc when size_t is larger than uint.
224
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc05e34492008-09-10 22:04:45 +0000225- Issue #3743: In a few places, PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T was incorrectly used with
226 PyString_FromFormat or PyErr_Format to display size_t values. The macro
227 PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T is designed to select the correct format for the OS
228 ``printf`` function, whereas PyString_FromFormat has an independent
229 implementation and uses "%zd" on all platforms for size_t values.
230 This makes a difference on win64, where ``printf`` needs "%Id" to display
231 64bit values.
232
Benjamin Peterson97179b02008-09-09 20:55:01 +0000233- Issue #3634: _weakref.ref(Exception).__init__() gave invalid return value on
234 error.
235
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd3ffb892008-09-09 07:24:30 +0000236- Issue #3777: long() applied to a float object now always return a long
237 object; previously an int would be returned for small values. the __long__
238 method is allowed to return either an int or a long, but the behaviour of
239 float objects should not change to respect backward compatibility.
240
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +0000241- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
242 a unicode argument.
243
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +0000244- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.

Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000247 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000248 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
249
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000250- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +0000251 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
252 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
253 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
254 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
255 type object.
256
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +0000257- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
258
259- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
260
261- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
262
263- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
264
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +0000265- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
266 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
267
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +0000268- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
269 ``__delslice__``.
270
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +0000271- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared

276 with x86_64 builds on some platforms (a few Linux flavors and OpenBSD).

396Core and Builtins
397-----------------
398
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +0000399- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
400 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
401 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
402 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
403 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
404 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
405 default.
406
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +0000407- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
408 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
409
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000410- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
411 value again.
412
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000413- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
414 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
415 and introducing s*.
416
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000417- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
418 object was stored in the freelist.
419
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000420- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
421 ValueError consistently across platforms.
422
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000423- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
424 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
425 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
426
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000427- Apply security patches from Apple.
428
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000429- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
430 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
431
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000432- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
433 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
434
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000435- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
436 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
437 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
438
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000439- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
440 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
441 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
442 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
443 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
444 failed have been fixed.
445
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000446Library
447-------
448
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000449- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
450
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000451- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
452 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
453
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000454- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
455 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
456 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
457
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000458- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
459 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
460 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
461 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
462 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
463 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
464
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000465- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
466 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
467
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000468- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
469
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000470- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
471
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000472- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
473
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000474- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
475 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
476
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000477- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
478 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
479
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000480- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
481 in a redirect.
482
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000483- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000484 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000485
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000486- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
487 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
488
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000489- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
490 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
491 regular expression.
492
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000493- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
494 thread-safe.
495
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000496- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
497 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
498 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
499
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000500- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
501
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000502- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
503 menu entries were not deleted.
504
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000505- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
506 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
507
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000508- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
509 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
510
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000511- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
512 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
513 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
514
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000515- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
516 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
517 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
518
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000519- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
520 the reload() built-in has been removed.
521
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000522- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000523 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000524 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,

528 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000529
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000530- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
531 raised an AttributeError.
532
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000533- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000534 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
535 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000536
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000537- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
538 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.

557
558- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
559
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000560- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
561 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
562 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
563
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000564- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword

589
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000590Core and Builtins
591-----------------
592
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000593- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
594 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
595 an integer using operator.index().
596
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000597- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
598 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
599
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000600- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
601 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
602
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000603- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
604 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
605 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
606
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000607- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
608 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
609 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
610 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
611 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
612 level.
613
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000614- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
615 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
616 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
617 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
618 all imports from that module to fail.
619
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000620- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
621 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001153- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
1154 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
1155 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
1156 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
1157 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
1158 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
1159 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support
1160 for the ``line`` argument will raise a DeprecationWarning.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001223- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
1224 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
1225 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
1226 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
1227 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
1228 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
1229 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
1230 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
1231 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
1232 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
1233 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
1234 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
1235 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
1236 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
1237 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
1238 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
1239 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
1240 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
1241 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
1242 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
1243
1244 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
1245 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
1246 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
1247 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
1248 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
1249 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
1250 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
1251 access to the underlying socket used.
1252
1253 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
1254 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
1255 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +00001256
1257 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001258 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,

1260 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
1261
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001262 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
1263 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc9a0d3462008-03-23 09:55:29 +00001317- Issue #1477: With narrow Unicode builds, the unicode escape sequence
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001318 \Uxxxxxxxx did not accept values outside the Basic Multilingual

1321 this case, like normal unicode literals and the 'unicode-escape'
1322 codec.

Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001539- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001540 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1541
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001542- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1543 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1544 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1545 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1546 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1547 module is:
1548 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1549
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001550- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1551 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1552 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1553 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1554 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1555 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1556
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001557- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1558 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1559 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1560 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1561 PyObject_Format().
1562
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001563- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1564 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1565 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001566
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001567- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

1575 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1576 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001577
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001578- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1579 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1580 to a bound method.

1594 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001595

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001608- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1609 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1610 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001611

1613 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1614 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1615 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.

3223 lists in Object/ are named ``free_list``, the counter ``numfree``

3228 to ``PyTuple_SetItem``, it can be used to populate a brand new

3243 of w# format code incorrectly truncated the length to an int, even
3244 when PY_SSIZE_T_CLEAN is set. The str.decode method used to return
3245 incorrect results with huge strings.

3265- Fix some leftovers from the conversion from int to Py_ssize_t
3266 (relevant to strings and sequences of more than 2**31 items).
3267
