161- Issue #3850: recursion tests in Misc/find_recursion_limit.py can raise
162 AttributeError instead of RuntimeError, depending in which C API call

179-----------------
180
Martin v. Löwis9fa5a282008-09-11 06:53:30 +0000181- Issue #3642: Suppress warning in obmalloc when size_t is larger than uint.
182
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc05e34492008-09-10 22:04:45 +0000183- Issue #3743: In a few places, PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T was incorrectly used with
184 PyString_FromFormat or PyErr_Format to display size_t values. The macro
185 PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T is designed to select the correct format for the OS
186 ``printf`` function, whereas PyString_FromFormat has an independent
187 implementation and uses "%zd" on all platforms for size_t values.
188 This makes a difference on win64, where ``printf`` needs "%Id" to display
189 64bit values.
190
Benjamin Peterson97179b02008-09-09 20:55:01 +0000191- Issue #3634: _weakref.ref(Exception).__init__() gave invalid return value on
192 error.
193
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd3ffb892008-09-09 07:24:30 +0000194- Issue #3777: long() applied to a float object now always return a long
195 object; previously an int would be returned for small values. the __long__
196 method is allowed to return either an int or a long, but the behaviour of
197 float objects should not change to respect backward compatibility.
198
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +0000199- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
200 a unicode argument.
201
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +0000202- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
203
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000204- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000205 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000206 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
207
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000208- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +0000209 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
210 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
211 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
212 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
213 type object.
214
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +0000215- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
216
217- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
218
219- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
220
221- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
222
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +0000223- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
224 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
225
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +0000226- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
227 ``__delslice__``.
228
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +0000229- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared
230 library targets in the Makefile.
231
Gregory P. Smith980b99b2008-09-07 05:15:18 +0000232- Issue #1204: The configure script now tests for additional libraries
233 that may be required when linking against readline. This fixes issues
234 with x86_64 builds on some platforms (a few Linux flavors and OpenBSD).
235

354Core and Builtins
355-----------------
356
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +0000357- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
358 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
359 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
360 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
361 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
362 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
363 default.
364
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +0000365- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
366 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
367
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000368- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
369 value again.
370
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000371- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
372 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
373 and introducing s*.
374
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000375- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
376 object was stored in the freelist.
377
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000378- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
379 ValueError consistently across platforms.
380
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000381- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
382 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
383 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
384
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000385- Apply security patches from Apple.
386
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000387- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
388 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
389
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000390- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
391 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
392
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000393- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
394 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
395 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
396
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000397- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
398 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
399 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
400 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
401 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
402 failed have been fixed.
403
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000404Library
405-------
406
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000407- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
408
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000409- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
410 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
411
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000412- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
413 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
414 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
415
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000416- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
417 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
418 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
419 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
420 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
421 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
422
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000423- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
424 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
425
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000426- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
427
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000428- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
429
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000430- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
431
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000432- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
433 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
434
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000435- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
436 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
437
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000438- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
439 in a redirect.
440
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000441- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000442 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000443
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000444- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
445 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
446
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000447- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
448 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
449 regular expression.
450
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000451- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
452 thread-safe.
453
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000454- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
455 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
456 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
457
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000458- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
459
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000460- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
461 menu entries were not deleted.
462
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000463- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
464 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
465
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000466- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
467 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
468
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000469- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
470 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
471 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
472
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000473- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
474 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
475 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
476
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000477- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
478 the reload() built-in has been removed.
479
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000480- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000481 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000482 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
483 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
484 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
485 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
486 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000487
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000488- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
489 raised an AttributeError.
490
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000491- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000492 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
493 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000494
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000495- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
496 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.

508 invalid arguments.
509
510- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
511 with None arguments.
512
513- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
514 configuration files.
515
516- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
517
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000518- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
519 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
520 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
521
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000522- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword
523 argument in python 2.5, this broke code that subclassed Popen to include its
524 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.

533
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000534- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
535 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
536
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000537- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
538 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
539 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
540 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.

547
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000548Core and Builtins
549-----------------
550
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000551- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
552 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
553 an integer using operator.index().
554
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000555- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
556 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
557
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000558- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
559 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
560
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000561- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
562 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
563 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
564
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000565- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
566 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
567 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
568 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
569 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
570 level.
571
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000572- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
573 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
574 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
575 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
576 all imports from that module to fail.
577
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000578- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
579 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
580 new-style classes.
581
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000582- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
583 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
584 another file in sys.stdout.
585
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000586- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
587 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
588 another thread's dictionary.
589
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000590- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
591 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
592 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
593 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
594 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
595 10, -1).
596
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000597- Issue #3219: Calling a function with repeated keyword arguments,
598 f(a=2, a=23), would not cause a syntax error. This was a regression
599 from 2.4 caused by the switch to the new compiler.
Benjamin Peterson175e4d92008-07-01 19:34:52 +0000600
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000601- Issue #2862: Make int and float freelist management consistent with
602 other freelists. Changes their CompactFreeList apis into
603 ClearFreeList apis and calls them via gc.collect().
Gregory P. Smith2fe77062008-07-06 03:35:58 +0000604

609 api functions without holding the GIL, which could lead to a fatal
610 error when they failed.
611
Martin v. Löwisaabf4042008-08-02 07:20:25 +0000612- Issue #799428: Fix Tkinter.Misc._nametowidget to unwrap Tcl command objects.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001111- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
1112 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
1113 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
1114 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
1115 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is

1187 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
1188 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
1189 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
1190 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
1191 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
1192 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
1193 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
1194 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
1195 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
1196 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
1197 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
1198 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
1199 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
1200 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
1201
1202 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
1203 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
1204 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
1205 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
1206 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
1207 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
1208 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
1209 access to the underlying socket used.
1210
1211 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
1212 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
1213 connect).

Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001493- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1494
1495- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001496

Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001498 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1499
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001500- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1501 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1502 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1503 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1504 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1505 module is:
1506 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1507
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001508- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1509 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1510 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1511 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1512 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1513 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1514
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001515- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1516 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1517 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1518 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1519 PyObject_Format().
1520
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001521- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1522 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1523 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001524
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001525- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001532- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1533 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1534 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001535
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001536- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1537 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1538 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001539
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001540- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1541 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1542

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001566- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1567 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1568 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001569

1571 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1572 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1573 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.

3178-----
3179
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003180- Unified naming convention for free lists and their limits. All free
3181 lists in Object/ are named ``free_list``, the counter ``numfree``
3182 and the upper limit is a macro ``PyName_MAXFREELIST`` inside an
3183 #ifndef block.
Christian Heimes5b970ad2008-02-06 13:33:44 +00003184

3186 to ``PyTuple_SetItem``, it can be used to populate a brand new
3187 frozenset; but it does not steal a reference to the added item.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arccab3d982008-02-03 22:51:43 +00003188

3196
3197- Issue #1534: Added ``PyFloat_GetMax()``, ``PyFloat_GetMin()`` and
3198 ``PyFloat_GetInfo()`` to the float API.
3199
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003200- Issue #1521: On 64bit platforms, using PyArgs_ParseTuple with the t#
3201 of w# format code incorrectly truncated the length to an int, even
3202 when PY_SSIZE_T_CLEAN is set. The str.decode method used to return
3203 incorrect results with huge strings.
Georg Brandl6caad7d2008-01-26 14:19:22 +00003204
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003205- Issue #1629: Renamed Py_Size, Py_Type and Py_Refcnt to Py_SIZE,

3223- Fix some leftovers from the conversion from int to Py_ssize_t
3224 (relevant to strings and sequences of more than 2**31 items).
3225
3226- Make _PyGILState_NoteThreadState() static, it was not used anywhere
3227 outside of pystate.c and should not be necessary.
3228
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003229- ``PyImport_Import`` and ``PyImport_ImportModule`` now always do

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00003261- Removed the macfs module. It had been deprecated since Python 2.5.
