13-----------------
14
Christian Heimesfb1813c2008-08-22 19:34:15 +000015- Issue #3642: Changed type of numarenas from uint to size_t
16 in order to silence a compilier warning on 64bit OSes.
17
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +000018- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
19 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.

30Core and Builtins
31-----------------
32
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +000033- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
34 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
35 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
36 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
37 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
38 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
39 default.
40
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +000041- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
42 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
43
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +000044- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
45 value again.
46
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +000047- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
48 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
49 and introducing s*.
50
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +000051- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
52 object was stored in the freelist.
53
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +000054- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
55 ValueError consistently across platforms.
56
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +000057- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
58 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
59 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
60
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +000061- Apply security patches from Apple.
62
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +000063- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
64 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
65
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +000066- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
67 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
68
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +000069- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
70 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
71 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
72
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +000073- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
74 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
75 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
76 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
77 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
78 failed have been fixed.
79
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000080Library
81-------
82
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +000083- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
84
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +000085- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
86 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
87
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +000088- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
89 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
90 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
91
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +000092- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
93 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
94 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
95 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
96 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
97 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
98
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +000099- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
100 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
101
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000102- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
103
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000104- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
105
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000106- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
107
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000108- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
109 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
110
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000111- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
112 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
113
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000114- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
115 in a redirect.
116
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000117- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000118 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000119
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000120- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
121 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
122
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000123- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
124 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
125 regular expression.
126
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000127- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
128 thread-safe.
129
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000130- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
131 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
132 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
133
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000134- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
135
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000136- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
137 menu entries were not deleted.
138
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000139- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
140 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
141
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000142- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
143 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
144
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000145- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
146 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
147 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
148
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000149- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
150 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
151 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
152
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000153- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
154 the reload() built-in has been removed.
155
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000156- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000157 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000158 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
159 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
160 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
161 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
162 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000163
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000164- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
165 raised an AttributeError.
166
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000167- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000168 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
169 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000170
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000171- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
172 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.
173
Skip Montanarof9ac43f2008-07-27 00:50:41 +0000174- Issue 3437: Bug fix in robotparser parsing of Allow: lines.
175
Raymond Hettinger8c664e82008-07-25 18:43:33 +0000176- Issue 1592: Improve error reporting when operations are attempted
177 on a closed shelf.

184 invalid arguments.
185
186- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
187 with None arguments.
188
189- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
190 configuration files.
191
192- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
193
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000194- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
195 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
196 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
197
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000198- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword
199 argument in python 2.5, this broke code that subclassed Popen to include its
200 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.

208-------------
209
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000210- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
211 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
212
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000213- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
214 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
215 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
216 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.

Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000219What's New in Python 2.6 beta 2?
220================================
221
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000222*Release date: 17-Jul-2008*
223
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000224Core and Builtins
225-----------------
226
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000227- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
228 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
229 an integer using operator.index().
230
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000231- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
232 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
233
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000234- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
235 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
236
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000237- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
238 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
239 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
240
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000241- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
242 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
243 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
244 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
245 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
246 level.
247
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000248- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
249 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
250 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
251 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
252 all imports from that module to fail.
253
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000254- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
255 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
256 new-style classes.
257
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000258- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
259 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
260 another file in sys.stdout.
261
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000262- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
263 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
264 another thread's dictionary.
265
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000266- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
267 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
268 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
269 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
270 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
271 10, -1).
272
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000273- Issue #3219: Calling a function with repeated keyword arguments,
274 f(a=2, a=23), would not cause a syntax error. This was a regression
275 from 2.4 caused by the switch to the new compiler.
Benjamin Peterson175e4d92008-07-01 19:34:52 +0000276
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000277- Issue #2862: Make int and float freelist management consistent with
278 other freelists. Changes their CompactFreeList apis into
279 ClearFreeList apis and calls them via gc.collect().
Gregory P. Smith2fe77062008-07-06 03:35:58 +0000280
Brett Cannon8bb8fa52008-07-02 01:57:08 +0000281Library
282-------
283
Thomas Heller57adf222008-08-14 19:10:48 +0000284- Issue #3554: ctypes.string_at and ctypes.wstring_at did call Python
285 api functions without holding the GIL, which could lead to a fatal
286 error when they failed.
287
Martin v. Löwisaabf4042008-08-02 07:20:25 +0000288- Issue #799428: Fix Tkinter.Misc._nametowidget to unwrap Tcl command objects.
289
Jesse Noller7fb96402008-07-17 21:01:05 +0000290- Issue #3395: fix reference in test_multiprocessing to old debugInfo method
291
Georg Brandla24869a2008-07-16 22:33:18 +0000292- Issue #3312: Fix two crashes in sqlite3.
293
Georg Brandl86cbf812008-07-16 21:31:41 +0000294- Issue #1608818: Fix misbehavior in os.listdir() if readdir() fails.
295
Jesse Noller13e9d582008-07-16 14:32:36 +0000296- Issue #3125: Remove copy_reg in multiprocessing and replace it with
297 ForkingPickler.register() to resolve conflict with ctypes.
298
Vinay Sajip51e65192008-07-18 09:01:10 +0000299- Issue #3090: Fixed ARCHFLAGS parsing on OS/X
Jesse Noller13e9d582008-07-16 14:32:36 +0000300
Thomas Heller880f5292008-07-15 19:39:38 +0000301- Issue #3313: Fixed a crash when a failed dlopen() call does not set
302 a valid dlerror() message.
303
Thomas Heller2bad6572008-07-15 17:19:50 +0000304- Issue #3258: Fixed a crash when a ctypes POINTER type to an
305 incomplete structure was created.
306
Brett Cannon3d0b9f02008-07-13 01:15:07 +0000307- Issue #3339: dummy_thread.acquire() should not return None.
308
Raymond Hettingerb01713e2008-07-10 14:34:57 +0000309- Issue #3285: Fractions from_float() and from_decimal() accept Integral arguments.
310
Andrew M. Kuchlingcc3f2b12008-07-10 14:43:31 +0000311- Issue #3301: Bisect module behaved badly when lo was negative.
Raymond Hettinger3cd1e422008-07-10 14:03:19 +0000312

787 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
788 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where

854-----
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000855
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000856- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
857 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
858 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
859 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
860 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
861 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
862 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
863 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
864 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
865 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
866 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
867 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
868 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
869 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
870 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
871 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
872 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
873 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
874 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
875 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
876
877 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
878 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
879 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
880 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
881 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
882 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
883 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
884 access to the underlying socket used.
885
886 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
887 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
888 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000889
890 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000891 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000892 test_poplib, test_ftplib, test_telnetlib, test_socketserver,
893 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.

1163-----------------
1164
Fred Drakea8ee94b2008-03-01 02:45:07 +00001165- Issue #2051: pyc and pyo files are no longer created with permission
Barry Warsaw52973612008-03-01 02:23:38 +00001166 644. The mode is now inherited from the py file.
Christian Heimes40346852008-02-23 17:52:07 +00001167
Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001168- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1169
1170- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001171
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001172- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001173 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1174
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001175- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1176 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1177 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1178 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1179 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1180 module is:
1181 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1182
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001183- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1184 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1185 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1186 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1187 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1188 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1189
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001190- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1191 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1192 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1193 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1194 PyObject_Format().
1195
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001196- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1197 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1198 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001199
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001200- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001201 prevent a possible crash: an Abstract Base Class would try to access
1202 a slot on a registered virtual subclass.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc60d6c7f2008-02-15 21:22:45 +00001203
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001204- Fixed repr() and str() of complex numbers with infinity or nan as
1205 real or imaginary part.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001207- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1208 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1209 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001210
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001211- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1212 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1213 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001214
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001215- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1216 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1217
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001218- Limit free list of method and builtin function objects to 256
1219 entries each.
Christian Heimes6075a822008-02-06 12:44:34 +00001220
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001221- Patch #1953: Added ``sys._compact_freelists()`` and the C API
1222 functions ``PyInt_CompactFreeList`` and ``PyFloat_CompactFreeList``

1226 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1227 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001228
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001229- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001241- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1242 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1243 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001244
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001245- Issue #1920: "while 0" statements were completely removed by the
1246 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1247 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1248 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc31eaafe2008-01-24 22:59:25 +00001249
Guido van Rossumeead05f2008-01-24 18:21:02 +00001250- A few crashers fixed: weakref_in_del.py (issue #1377858);

Guido van Rossum143b5642007-03-23 04:58:42 +00001429- Bug #1683368: The object.__init__() and object.__new__() methods are
1430 now stricter in rejecting excess arguments. The only time when
1431 either allows excess arguments is when it is not overridden and the

Guido van Rossum234b1ff2007-03-23 19:39:01 +00001434 warning later). Also, type.__init__() insists on the same signature
