12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcdc619012008-11-22 20:01:18 +000015- Issue #3996: On Windows, the PyOS_CheckStack function would cause the
16 interpreter to abort ("Fatal Python error: Could not reset the stack!")
17 instead of throwing a MemoryError.
18
Raymond Hettinger7989a4d2008-12-03 15:42:10 +000019- Issue #3689: The list reversed iterator now supports __length_hint__
20 instead of __len__. Behavior now matches other reversed iterators.
21
Benjamin Petersonc078f922008-11-21 22:27:24 +000022- Issue #4367: Python would segfault during compiling when the unicodedata
23 module couldn't be imported and \N escapes were present.
24
Vinay Sajip213faca2008-12-03 23:22:58 +000025- Issue #4233: Changed semantic of ``_fileio.FileIO``'s ``close()``
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc32265652008-11-20 23:34:31 +000026 method on file objects with closefd=False. The file descriptor is still
27 kept open but the file object behaves like a closed file. The ``FileIO``
28 object also got a new readonly attribute ``closefd``.
29
Benjamin Peterson46cc6d12008-11-19 21:49:09 +000030- Issue #4348: Some bytearray methods returned that didn't cause any change to
31 the bytearray, returned the same bytearray instead of a copy.
32
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc7cfe7ea2008-11-18 22:19:37 +000033- Issue #4317: Fixed a crash in the imageop.rgb2rgb8() function.
34
Benjamin Peterson273c2332008-11-17 22:39:09 +000035- Issue #4230: If ``__getattr__`` is a descriptor, it now functions correctly.
36
Benjamin Peterson6624a9f2008-11-03 15:14:51 +000037- Issue #4048: The parser module now correctly validates relative imports.
38
Benjamin Petersondcee09d2008-10-31 02:16:05 +000039- Issue #4225: ``from __future__ import unicode_literals`` didn't work in an
40 exec statement.
41
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc69a9c5b2008-10-30 21:18:34 +000042- Issue #4176: Fixed a crash when pickling an object which ``__reduce__``
43 method does not return iterators for the 4th and 5th items.
44
Benjamin Petersonbdca9422008-10-26 20:21:13 +000045- Issue #4209: Enabling unicode_literals and the print_function in the same
46 __future__ import didn't work.
47
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000048- Using ``nonlocal`` as a variable name will now raise a Py3k SyntaxWarning
Georg Brandl7fb00ad2008-10-25 07:00:52 +000049 because it is a reserved word in 3.x.
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000050
Hirokazu Yamamoto10a018c2008-10-09 10:00:30 +000051- On windows, os.chdir given unicode was not working if GetCurrentDirectoryW
52 returned a path longer than MAX_PATH. (But It's doubtful this code path is
53 really executed because I cannot move to such directory on win2k)
54
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd78b9dc2008-10-07 20:32:10 +000055- Issue #4069: When set.remove(element) is used with a set element, the element
56 is temporarily replaced with an equivalent frozenset. But the eventual
57 KeyError would always report the empty frozenset([]) as the missing key. Now
58 it correctly refers to the initial element.
59
Barry Warsaw12582c92008-10-02 03:33:51 +000060Library
61-------
62
Fred Drake52481032008-12-04 18:25:17 +000063- Issue #1055234: cgi.parse_header(): Fixed parsing of header parameters to

68 This change includes a NullHandler which does nothing; it will be of use to
69 library developers who want to avoid the "No handlers could be found for
70 logger XXX" message which can appear if the library user doesn't configure
71 logging.
72

82
Brett Cannone3d0bf72008-11-15 22:40:44 +000083- httplib.HTTPConnection.putheader() now accepts an arbitrary number of values

200- Issue #3850: recursion tests in Misc/find_recursion_limit.py can raise
201 AttributeError instead of RuntimeError, depending in which C API call

218-----------------
219
Martin v. Löwis9fa5a282008-09-11 06:53:30 +0000220- Issue #3642: Suppress warning in obmalloc when size_t is larger than uint.
221
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc05e34492008-09-10 22:04:45 +0000222- Issue #3743: In a few places, PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T was incorrectly used with
223 PyString_FromFormat or PyErr_Format to display size_t values. The macro
224 PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T is designed to select the correct format for the OS
225 ``printf`` function, whereas PyString_FromFormat has an independent
226 implementation and uses "%zd" on all platforms for size_t values.
227 This makes a difference on win64, where ``printf`` needs "%Id" to display
228 64bit values.
229
Benjamin Peterson97179b02008-09-09 20:55:01 +0000230- Issue #3634: _weakref.ref(Exception).__init__() gave invalid return value on
231 error.
232
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd3ffb892008-09-09 07:24:30 +0000233- Issue #3777: long() applied to a float object now always return a long
234 object; previously an int would be returned for small values. the __long__
235 method is allowed to return either an int or a long, but the behaviour of
236 float objects should not change to respect backward compatibility.
237
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +0000238- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
239 a unicode argument.
240
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +0000241- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
242
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000243- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000244 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000245 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
246
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000247- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +0000248 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
249 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
250 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
251 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
252 type object.
253
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +0000254- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
255
256- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
257
258- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
259
260- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
261
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +0000262- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
263 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
264
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +0000265- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
266 ``__delslice__``.
267
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +0000268- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared
269 library targets in the Makefile.
270
Gregory P. Smith980b99b2008-09-07 05:15:18 +0000271- Issue #1204: The configure script now tests for additional libraries

273 with x86_64 builds on some platforms (a few Linux flavors and OpenBSD).

323 warnings.catch_warnings() along with some API cleanup. Expanding the tests
324 for catch_warnings() also led to an improvement in the raising of a
325 DeprecationWarning related to warnings.warn_explicit().
326
Benjamin Peterson973e6c22008-09-01 23:12:58 +0000327- The deprecation warnings for the old camelCase threading API were removed.

393Core and Builtins
394-----------------
395
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +0000396- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
397 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
398 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
399 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
400 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
401 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
402 default.
403
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +0000404- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
405 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
406
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000407- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
408 value again.
409
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000410- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
411 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
412 and introducing s*.
413
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000414- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
415 object was stored in the freelist.
416
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000417- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
418 ValueError consistently across platforms.
419
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000420- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
421 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
422 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
423
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000424- Apply security patches from Apple.
425
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000426- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
427 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
428
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000429- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
430 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
431
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000432- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
433 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
434 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
435
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000436- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
437 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
438 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
439 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
440 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
441 failed have been fixed.
442
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000443Library
444-------
445
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000446- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
447
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000448- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
449 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
450
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000451- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
452 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
453 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
454
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000455- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
456 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
457 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
458 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
459 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
460 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
461
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000462- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
463 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
464
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000465- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
466
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000467- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
468
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000469- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
470
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000471- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
472 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
473
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000474- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
475 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
476
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000477- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
478 in a redirect.
479
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000480- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000481 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000482
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000483- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
484 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
485
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000486- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
487 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
488 regular expression.
489
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000490- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
491 thread-safe.
492
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000493- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
494 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
495 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
496
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000497- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
498
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000499- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
500 menu entries were not deleted.
501
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000502- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
503 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
504
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000505- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
506 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
507
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000508- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
509 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
510 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
511
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000512- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
513 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
514 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
515
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000516- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
517 the reload() built-in has been removed.
518
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000519- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000520 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000521 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,

525 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000526
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000527- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
528 raised an AttributeError.
529
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000530- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000531 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
532 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000533
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000534- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
535 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.

554
555- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
556
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000557- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
558 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
559 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
560
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000561- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword

586
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000587Core and Builtins
588-----------------
589
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000590- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
591 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
592 an integer using operator.index().
593
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000594- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
595 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
596
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000597- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
598 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
599
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000600- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
601 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
602 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
603
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000604- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
605 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
606 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
607 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
608 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
609 level.
610
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000611- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
612 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
613 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
614 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
615 all imports from that module to fail.
616
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000617- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
618 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
619 new-style classes.
620
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000621- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
622 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001150- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
1151 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
1152 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
1153 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
1154 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
1155 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
1156 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support
1157 for the ``line`` argument will raise a DeprecationWarning.

1204 threads at once without fear of crashing the Python interpreter. If
1205 file.close() is called while an object is in use by another thread
1206 an IOError exception will be raised and the file will not be closed.
1207
Thomas Hellerf7906482008-04-04 19:43:25 +00001208- The bundled libffi copy is now in sync with the recently released

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001220- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
1221 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
1222 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
1223 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
1224 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
1225 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
1226 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
1227 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
1228 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
1229 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
1230 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
1231 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
1232 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
1233 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
1234 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
1235 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
1236 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
1237 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
1238 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
1239 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
1240
1241 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
1242 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
1243 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
1244 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
1245 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
1246 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
1247 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
1248 access to the underlying socket used.
1249
1250 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
1251 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
1252 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +00001253
1254 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001255 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,

1257 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
1258
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001259 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
1260 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc9a0d3462008-03-23 09:55:29 +00001314- Issue #1477: With narrow Unicode builds, the unicode escape sequence
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001315 \Uxxxxxxxx did not accept values outside the Basic Multilingual

1317 'raw-unicode-escape' codec. Now UTF-16 surrogates are generated in
1318 this case, like normal unicode literals and the 'unicode-escape'
1319 codec.

1538
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001539- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1540 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1541 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1542 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1543 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1544 module is:
1545 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1546
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001547- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1548 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1549 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1550 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1551 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1552 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1553
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001554- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1555 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1556 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1557 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1558 PyObject_Format().
1559
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001560- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1561 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1562 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001563
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001564- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

1573 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001574
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001575- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a

3220 lists in Object/ are named ``free_list``, the counter ``numfree``
