13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcdc619012008-11-22 20:01:18 +000015- Issue #3996: On Windows, the PyOS_CheckStack function would cause the
16 interpreter to abort ("Fatal Python error: Could not reset the stack!")
17 instead of throwing a MemoryError.
18
Raymond Hettinger7989a4d2008-12-03 15:42:10 +000019- Issue #3689: The list reversed iterator now supports __length_hint__
20 instead of __len__. Behavior now matches other reversed iterators.
21
Benjamin Petersonc078f922008-11-21 22:27:24 +000022- Issue #4367: Python would segfault during compiling when the unicodedata
23 module couldn't be imported and \N escapes were present.
24
Vinay Sajip213faca2008-12-03 23:22:58 +000025- Issue #4233: Changed semantic of ``_fileio.FileIO``'s ``close()``
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc32265652008-11-20 23:34:31 +000026 method on file objects with closefd=False. The file descriptor is still
27 kept open but the file object behaves like a closed file. The ``FileIO``
28 object also got a new readonly attribute ``closefd``.
29
Benjamin Peterson46cc6d12008-11-19 21:49:09 +000030- Issue #4348: Some bytearray methods returned that didn't cause any change to
31 the bytearray, returned the same bytearray instead of a copy.
32
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc7cfe7ea2008-11-18 22:19:37 +000033- Issue #4317: Fixed a crash in the imageop.rgb2rgb8() function.
34
Benjamin Peterson273c2332008-11-17 22:39:09 +000035- Issue #4230: If ``__getattr__`` is a descriptor, it now functions correctly.

38

40 exec statement.
41
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc69a9c5b2008-10-30 21:18:34 +000042- Issue #4176: Fixed a crash when pickling an object which ``__reduce__``
43 method does not return iterators for the 4th and 5th items.
44
Benjamin Petersonbdca9422008-10-26 20:21:13 +000045- Issue #4209: Enabling unicode_literals and the print_function in the same
46 __future__ import didn't work.
47
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000048- Using ``nonlocal`` as a variable name will now raise a Py3k SyntaxWarning
Georg Brandl7fb00ad2008-10-25 07:00:52 +000049 because it is a reserved word in 3.x.
Benjamin Peterson399b1fe2008-10-25 02:53:28 +000050
Hirokazu Yamamoto10a018c2008-10-09 10:00:30 +000051- On windows, os.chdir given unicode was not working if GetCurrentDirectoryW
52 returned a path longer than MAX_PATH. (But It's doubtful this code path is
53 really executed because I cannot move to such directory on win2k)
54
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd78b9dc2008-10-07 20:32:10 +000055- Issue #4069: When set.remove(element) is used with a set element, the element
56 is temporarily replaced with an equivalent frozenset. But the eventual
57 KeyError would always report the empty frozenset([]) as the missing key. Now
58 it correctly refers to the initial element.
59
Barry Warsaw12582c92008-10-02 03:33:51 +000060Library

76 could be found for logger XXX" message which can appear if the library user
77 doesn't configure logging.
Vinay Sajip213faca2008-12-03 23:22:58 +000078

224-----------------
225
Martin v. Löwis9fa5a282008-09-11 06:53:30 +0000226- Issue #3642: Suppress warning in obmalloc when size_t is larger than uint.
227
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc05e34492008-09-10 22:04:45 +0000228- Issue #3743: In a few places, PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T was incorrectly used with
229 PyString_FromFormat or PyErr_Format to display size_t values. The macro
230 PY_FORMAT_SIZE_T is designed to select the correct format for the OS
231 ``printf`` function, whereas PyString_FromFormat has an independent
232 implementation and uses "%zd" on all platforms for size_t values.
233 This makes a difference on win64, where ``printf`` needs "%Id" to display
234 64bit values.
235
Benjamin Peterson97179b02008-09-09 20:55:01 +0000236- Issue #3634: _weakref.ref(Exception).__init__() gave invalid return value on
237 error.
238
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcd3ffb892008-09-09 07:24:30 +0000239- Issue #3777: long() applied to a float object now always return a long
240 object; previously an int would be returned for small values. the __long__
241 method is allowed to return either an int or a long, but the behaviour of
242 float objects should not change to respect backward compatibility.
243
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +0000244- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
245 a unicode argument.
246
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +0000247- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
248
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000249- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000250 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +0000251 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
252
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +0000253- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +0000254 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
255 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
256 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
257 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
258 type object.
259
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +0000260- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
261
262- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
263
264- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
265
266- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
267
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +0000268- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
269 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
270
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +0000271- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
272 ``__delslice__``.
273
Gregory P. Smith2bb25cc2008-09-02 05:29:51 +0000274- Issue #3678: Correctly pass LDFLAGS and LDLAST to the linker on shared
275 library targets in the Makefile.
276
Gregory P. Smith980b99b2008-09-07 05:15:18 +0000277- Issue #1204: The configure script now tests for additional libraries
278 that may be required when linking against readline. This fixes issues
279 with x86_64 builds on some platforms (a few Linux flavors and OpenBSD).

329 warnings.catch_warnings() along with some API cleanup. Expanding the tests
330 for catch_warnings() also led to an improvement in the raising of a

399Core and Builtins
400-----------------
401
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +0000402- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
403 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
404 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
405 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
406 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
407 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
408 default.
409
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +0000410- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
411 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
412
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +0000413- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
414 value again.
415
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000416- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
417 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
418 and introducing s*.
419
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000420- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
421 object was stored in the freelist.
422
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000423- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
424 ValueError consistently across platforms.
425
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000426- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
427 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
428 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
429
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000430- Apply security patches from Apple.
431
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000432- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
433 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
434
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000435- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
436 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
437
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000438- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
439 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
440 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
441
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000442- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
443 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
444 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
445 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
446 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
447 failed have been fixed.
448
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000449Library
450-------
451
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000452- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
453
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000454- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
455 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
456
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000457- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
458 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
459 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
460
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000461- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
462 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
463 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
464 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
465 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
466 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
467
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000468- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
469 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
470
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000471- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
472
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000473- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
474
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000475- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
476
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000477- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
478 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
479
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000480- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
481 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
482
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000483- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
484 in a redirect.
485
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000486- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000487 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000488
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000489- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
490 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
491
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000492- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
493 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
494 regular expression.
495
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000496- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
497 thread-safe.
498
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000499- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
500 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
501 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
502
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000503- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
504
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000505- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
506 menu entries were not deleted.
507
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000508- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
509 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
510
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000511- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
512 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
513
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000514- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
515 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
516 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
517
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000518- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
519 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
520 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
521
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000522- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
523 the reload() built-in has been removed.
524
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000525- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000526 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000527 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,

Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000532
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000533- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
534 raised an AttributeError.
535
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000536- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000537 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
538 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000539
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000540- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification

561- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
562
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000563- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
564 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
565 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
566
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000567- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword

592
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000593Core and Builtins
594-----------------
595
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000596- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
597 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
598 an integer using operator.index().
599
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000600- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
601 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
602
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000603- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
604 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
605
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000606- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
607 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
608 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
609
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000610- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
611 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
612 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
613 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
614 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
615 level.
616
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000617- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
618 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001156- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
1157 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
1158 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
1159 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``

1161 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
1162 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001226- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
1227 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
1228 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
1229 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
1230 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
1231 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
1232 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
1233 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
1234 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
1235 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
1236 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
1237 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
1238 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
1239 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
1240 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
1241 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
1242 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
1243 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
1244 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
1245 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
1246
1247 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
1248 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
1249 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
1250 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
1251 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
1252 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
1253 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
1254 access to the underlying socket used.
1255
1256 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
1257 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
1258 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +00001259
1260 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001261 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,

1263 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
1264
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001265 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
1266 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc9a0d3462008-03-23 09:55:29 +00001320- Issue #1477: With narrow Unicode builds, the unicode escape sequence
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001321 \Uxxxxxxxx did not accept values outside the Basic Multilingual
1322 Plane. This affected raw unicode literals and the
1323 'raw-unicode-escape' codec. Now UTF-16 surrogates are generated in
1324 this case, like normal unicode literals and the 'unicode-escape'
1325 codec.

Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001538- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1539
1540- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001541
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001542- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001543 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1544
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001545- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1546 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1547 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1548 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1549 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1550 module is:
1551 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1552
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001553- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1554 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1555 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1556 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1557 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1558 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1559
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001560- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1561 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1562 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1563 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1564 PyObject_Format().
1565
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001566- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1567 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1568 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001569
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001570- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001571 prevent a possible crash: an Abstract Base Class would try to access

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001577- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1578 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1579 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001580
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001581- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1582 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1583 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001584
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001585- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1586 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1587
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001588- Limit free list of method and builtin function objects to 256
1589 entries each.
Christian Heimes6075a822008-02-06 12:44:34 +00001590
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001591- Patch #1953: Added ``sys._compact_freelists()`` and the C API
1592 functions ``PyInt_CompactFreeList`` and ``PyFloat_CompactFreeList``

1596 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1597 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001598
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001599- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001611- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1612 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1613 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001614
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001615- Issue #1920: "while 0" statements were completely removed by the
1616 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1617 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1618 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc31eaafe2008-01-24 22:59:25 +00001619
Guido van Rossumeead05f2008-01-24 18:21:02 +00001620- A few crashers fixed: weakref_in_del.py (issue #1377858);
