10*Release date: XX-XXX-2008*
11
12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000015- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
16 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
17 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
18
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +000019- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
20 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
21 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
22 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
23 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
24 type object.
25
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +000026- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
27
28- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
29
30- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
31
32- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
33
Christian Heimesfb1813c2008-08-22 19:34:15 +000034- Issue #3642: Changed type of numarenas from uint to size_t
35 in order to silence a compilier warning on 64bit OSes.
36
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +000037- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
38 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
39
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +000040- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
41 ``__delslice__``.
42
Benjamin Peterson14cb6bc2008-08-26 17:08:40 +000043C-API
44-----
45
46- Aliased PyObject_Bytes to PyObject_Str.
47
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000048Library
49-------
50
Christian Heimesa27a62e2008-08-22 19:55:54 +000051- Silenced a trivial compiler warning in the sqlite module.
52
Christian Heimes1cc69632008-08-22 20:10:27 +000053- Fixed two format strings in the _collections module.
54
Benjamin Petersonf22c26e2008-09-01 14:13:43 +000055- #3703 _fileio.FileIO gave unhelpful error message when trying to open a
56 directory.
57
Benjamin Peterson37346b22008-08-23 20:27:43 +000058Extension Modules
59-----------------
60
61- Issue #3643: Added a few more checks to _testcapi to prevent segfaults by
62 exploitation of poor argument checking.
63
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000064

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000069
70Core and Builtins
71-----------------
72
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +000073- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
74 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
75 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
76 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
77 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
78 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
79 default.
80
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +000081- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
82 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
83
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +000084- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
85 value again.
86
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +000087- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
88 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
89 and introducing s*.
90
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +000091- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
92 object was stored in the freelist.
93
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +000094- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
95 ValueError consistently across platforms.
96
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +000097- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
98 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
99 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
100
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000101- Apply security patches from Apple.
102
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000103- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
104 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
105
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000106- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
107 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
108
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000109- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
110 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
111 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
112
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000113- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
114 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
115 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
116 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
117 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
118 failed have been fixed.
119
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000120Library
121-------
122
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000123- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
124
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000125- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
126 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
127
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000128- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
129 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
130 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
131
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000132- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
133 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
134 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
135 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
136 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
137 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
138
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000139- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
140 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
141
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000142- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
143
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000144- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
145
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000146- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
147
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000148- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
149 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
150
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000151- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
152 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
153
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000154- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
155 in a redirect.
156
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000157- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000158 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000159
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000160- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
161 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
162
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000163- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
164 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
165 regular expression.
166
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000167- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
168 thread-safe.
169
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000170- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
171 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
172 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
173
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000174- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
175
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000176- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
177 menu entries were not deleted.
178
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000179- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
180 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
181
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000182- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
183 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
184
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000185- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
186 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
187 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
188
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000189- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
190 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
191 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
192
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000193- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
194 the reload() built-in has been removed.
195
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000196- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000197 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000198 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
199 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
200 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
201 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
202 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000203
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000204- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
205 raised an AttributeError.
206
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000207- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000208 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
209 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000210
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000211- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
212 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.
213
Skip Montanarof9ac43f2008-07-27 00:50:41 +0000214- Issue 3437: Bug fix in robotparser parsing of Allow: lines.
215
Raymond Hettinger8c664e82008-07-25 18:43:33 +0000216- Issue 1592: Improve error reporting when operations are attempted
217 on a closed shelf.
218

220
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000221- Issue #3120: On 64-bit Windows the subprocess module was truncating handles.
222

224 invalid arguments.
225
226- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
227 with None arguments.
228
229- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
230 configuration files.
231
232- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
233
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000234- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
235 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
236 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
237
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000238- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword
239 argument in python 2.5, this broke code that subclassed Popen to include its
240 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.
241
Martin v. Löwis8dbf3642008-08-01 14:10:26 +0000242Build
243-----

246
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000247Documentation
248-------------
249
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000250- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
251 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
252
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000253- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
254 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
255 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
256 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.
257
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000258
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000259What's New in Python 2.6 beta 2?
260================================
261
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000262*Release date: 17-Jul-2008*
263
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000264Core and Builtins
265-----------------
266
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000267- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
268 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
269 an integer using operator.index().
270
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000271- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
272 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
273
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000274- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
275 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
276
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000277- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
278 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
279 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
280
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000281- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
282 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
283 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
284 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
285 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
286 level.
287
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000288- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
289 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
290 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
291 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
292 all imports from that module to fail.
293
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000294- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
295 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
296 new-style classes.
297
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000298- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
299 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
300 another file in sys.stdout.
301
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000302- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
303 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
304 another thread's dictionary.
305
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000306- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
307 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
308 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
309 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
310 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
311 10, -1).
312
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000313- Issue #3219: Calling a function with repeated keyword arguments,
314 f(a=2, a=23), would not cause a syntax error. This was a regression
315 from 2.4 caused by the switch to the new compiler.
Benjamin Peterson175e4d92008-07-01 19:34:52 +0000316
Georg Brandl278fc502008-07-19 12:46:12 +0000317- Issue #2862: Make int and float freelist management consistent with
318 other freelists. Changes their CompactFreeList apis into
319 ClearFreeList apis and calls them via gc.collect().
Gregory P. Smith2fe77062008-07-06 03:35:58 +0000320
Brett Cannon8bb8fa52008-07-02 01:57:08 +0000321Library
322-------
323
Thomas Heller57adf222008-08-14 19:10:48 +0000324- Issue #3554: ctypes.string_at and ctypes.wstring_at did call Python
325 api functions without holding the GIL, which could lead to a fatal

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000827- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
828 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
829 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
830 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``

832 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
833 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000897- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
898 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
899 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
900 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
901 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
902 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
903 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
904 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
905 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
906 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
907 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
908 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
909 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
910 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
911 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
912 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
913 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
914 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
915 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
916 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
917
918 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
919 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
920 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
921 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
922 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
923 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
924 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
925 access to the underlying socket used.
926
927 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
928 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
929 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000930
931 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000932 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000933 test_poplib, test_ftplib, test_telnetlib, test_socketserver,
934 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
935
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000936 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
937 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Georg Brandlad61bc82008-02-23 15:11:18 +00001209- Issue #2067: file.__exit__() now calls subclasses' close() method.
1210
1211- Patch #1759: Backport of PEP 3129 class decorators.
Christian Heimes5224d282008-02-23 15:01:05 +00001212
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001213- Issue #1881: An internal parser limit has been increased. Also see
Facundo Batistafc2d0102008-02-23 12:01:13 +00001214 issue 215555 for a discussion.
1215
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001216- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1217 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1218 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1219 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1220 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1221 module is:
1222 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1223
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001224- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1225 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1226 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1227 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1228 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1229 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1230
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001231- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1232 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1233 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1234 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1235 PyObject_Format().
1236
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001237- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1238 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1239 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001240
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001241- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001248- Clear all free lists during a gc.collect() of the highest generation
1249 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1250 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001251
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001252- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1253 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1254 to a bound method.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcb01aa432008-02-08 00:56:02 +00001255
Christian Heimesf75dbef2008-02-08 00:11:31 +00001256- Fixed a minor memory leak in dictobject.c. The content of the free
1257 list was not freed on interpreter shutdown.
1258
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001259- Limit free list of method and builtin function objects to 256
1260 entries each.

1267 calls. Python expected the return type int but the fork familie
1268 returns pi_t.
Christian Heimes951cc0f2008-01-31 23:08:23 +00001269
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001270- Issue #1678380: Fix a bug that identifies 0j and -0j when they

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001282- Patch #1473257: generator objects gain a gi_code attribute. This is
1283 the same object as the func_code attribute of the function that
1284 produced the generator.
Georg Brandl0cdf9a32008-01-26 14:14:20 +00001285
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001286- Issue #1920: "while 0" statements were completely removed by the
1287 compiler, even in the presence of an "else" clause, which is
1288 supposed to be run when the condition is false. Now the compiler
1289 correctly emits bytecode for the "else" suite.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00002916- Issue #1521: On 64bit platforms, using PyArgs_ParseTuple with the t#
2917 of w# format code incorrectly truncated the length to an int, even
2918 when PY_SSIZE_T_CLEAN is set. The str.decode method used to return
2919 incorrect results with huge strings.
Georg Brandl6caad7d2008-01-26 14:19:22 +00002920
