Guido van Rossum5153e5e1991-01-25 13:29:53 +00001This directory contains the LaTeX source to the Python documentation.
Guido van Rossum676d6da1992-02-11 15:51:36 +00002It is not all finished, but good enough to get you started.

Guido van Rossum676d6da1992-02-11 15:51:36 +00004The following are the LaTeX source files:
Guido van Rossum7f777ed1990-08-09 14:25:15 +00005
Guido van Rossum676d6da1992-02-11 15:51:36 +00006 tut.tex The tutorial
Guido van Rossumddfb3eb1991-11-12 15:40:23 +00007 lib.tex, lib[1-5].tex The library reference
Guido van Rossum676d6da1992-02-11 15:51:36 +00008 ref.tex The reference manual
9 qua.tex, quabib.bib Article published in CWI Quarterly
Guido van Rossum7f777ed1990-08-09 14:25:15 +000010
Guido van Rossum676d6da1992-02-11 15:51:36 +000011All except qua.tex use the style option file "myformat.sty". This
Guido van Rossum0e5f0091992-03-06 10:56:17 +000012contains some macro definitions and sets style parameters. You can
13easily edit it to change the paper size (the default is European
14paper, "A4": 21 x 29.7 cm).

Guido van Rossum0e5f0091992-03-06 10:56:17 +000016There's a Makefile to call latex and other utilities (makeindex and
17bibtex) in the right order and the right number of times. This will
18produce dvi files for each document made; to preview them, use xdvi.
19Printing depends on local conventions; at my site, I use dvips and
20lpr. For example:
Guido van Rossum7f777ed1990-08-09 14:25:15 +000021
Guido van Rossum0e5f0091992-03-06 10:56:17 +000022 make ref # creates ref.dvi
23 xdvi ref # preview it
24 dvips -Ppsc ref | lpr -Ppsc # print it on printer "psc".
