10*Release date: XX-XXX-2008*
11
12Core and Builtins
13-----------------
14
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc3571fbf2008-09-01 19:52:00 +000015- Issue #3751: str.rpartition would perform a left-partition when called with
16 a unicode argument.
17
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000018- Issue #3683: Fix compilation when --without-threads is given.
19
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000020- Issue #3668: Fix a memory leak with the "s*" argument parser in
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000021 PyArg_ParseTuple and friends, which occurred when the argument for "s*"
Antoine Pitroud4ae97b2008-08-29 18:39:48 +000022 was correctly parsed but parsing of subsequent arguments failed.
23
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000024- Issue #2534: speed up isinstance() and issubclass() by 50-70%, so as to
Antoine Pitrou0668c622008-08-26 22:42:08 +000025 match Python 2.5 speed despite the __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__
26 mechanism. In the process, fix a bug where isinstance() and issubclass(),
27 when given a tuple of classes as second argument, were looking up
28 __instancecheck__ / __subclasscheck__ on the tuple rather than on each
29 type object.
30
Neal Norwitz18aa3882008-08-24 05:04:52 +000031- Fix crashes on memory allocation failure found with failmalloc.
32
33- Fix memory leaks found with valgrind and update suppressions file.
34
35- Fix compiler warnings in opt mode which would lead to invalid memory reads.
36
37- Fix problem using wrong name in decimal module reported by pychecker.
38
Christian Heimesfb1813c2008-08-22 19:34:15 +000039- Issue #3642: Changed type of numarenas from uint to size_t
40 in order to silence a compilier warning on 64bit OSes.
41
Christian Heimes7d4c3172008-08-22 19:47:25 +000042- Silenced another compiler warning about a used but not defined
43 function 'stringlib_contains_obj'.
44
Benjamin Peterson712ee922008-08-24 18:10:20 +000045- Added warnings on the use of ``__getslice__``, ``__setslice__``, or
46 ``__delslice__``.
47
Benjamin Peterson14cb6bc2008-08-26 17:08:40 +000048C-API
49-----
50
51- Aliased PyObject_Bytes to PyObject_Str.
52
Barry Warsaw6a0b5592008-08-21 02:12:56 +000053Library
54-------
55
Brett Cannon1eaf0742008-09-02 01:25:16 +000056- Issue 3602: Moved test.test_support.catch_warning() to
57 warnings.catch_warnings() along with some API cleanup. Expanding the tests
58 for catch_warnings() also led to an improvement in the raising of a
59 DeprecationWarning related to warnings.warn_explicit().
60
Benjamin Peterson973e6c22008-09-01 23:12:58 +000061- The deprecation warnings for the old camelCase threading API were removed.
62
Vinay Sajip35e3b032008-09-01 14:33:59 +000063- logging: fixed lack of use of encoding attribute specified on a stream.
64
Christian Heimesa27a62e2008-08-22 19:55:54 +000065- Silenced a trivial compiler warning in the sqlite module.
66
Christian Heimes1cc69632008-08-22 20:10:27 +000067- Fixed two format strings in the _collections module.
68
Benjamin Peterson17f03ca2008-09-01 14:18:30 +000069- Issue #3703: _fileio.FileIO gave unhelpful error message when trying to open a
70 directory.
Benjamin Petersonf22c26e2008-09-01 14:13:43 +000071
Benjamin Peterson37346b22008-08-23 20:27:43 +000072Extension Modules
73-----------------
74
75- Issue #3643: Added a few more checks to _testcapi to prevent segfaults by
76 exploitation of poor argument checking.
77

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000079What's New in Python 2.6 beta 3?
80================================
81
Barry Warsaw07a4a382008-08-21 01:15:08 +000082*Release date: 20-Aug-2008*
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +000083
84Core and Builtins
85-----------------
86
Guido van Rossumf8402962008-08-20 15:01:50 +000087- Issue #1878: Remove Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG from
88 Py_TPFLAGS_DEFAULT when not building the core. This means 3rd party
89 extensions do not automatically benefit from the class attribute
90 cache; they will have to explicitly add Py_TPFLAGS_HAVE_VERSION_TAG
91 to their tp_flags field if they care. This is a backwards
92 compatibility feature; in 3.0, all types will use the cache by
93 default.
94
Benjamin Petersonf647dc12008-08-20 01:27:30 +000095- Keyword arguments can now follow starred arguments. (``f(a, *args,
96 keyword=23)`` is now valid syntax.)
97
Thomas Heller0ad5ae02008-08-19 19:25:04 +000098- ctypes function pointers that are COM methods have a boolean True
99 value again.
100
Martin v. Löwisf91d46a2008-08-12 14:49:50 +0000101- Issue #3139: Make buffer-interface thread-safe wrt. PyArg_ParseTuple,
102 by denying s# to parse objects that have a releasebuffer procedure,
103 and introducing s*.
104
Georg Brandl1e13ea92008-08-11 09:07:59 +0000105- Issue #3537: Fix an assertion failure when an empty but presized dict
106 object was stored in the freelist.
107
Mark Dickinsonb6467572008-08-04 21:30:09 +0000108- Issue #1481296: Make long(float('nan')) and int(float('nan')) raise
109 ValueError consistently across platforms.
110
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc39fd6722008-07-31 21:28:03 +0000111- Issue #3479: On platforms where sizeof(int) is smaller than sizeof(long)
112 (64bit Unix, for example), unichr() would truncate its argument and return
113 u'\x00' for unichr(2**32). Now it properly raises an OverflowError.
114
Neal Norwitze7d8be82008-07-31 17:17:14 +0000115- Apply security patches from Apple.
116
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc246daed2008-07-31 00:42:16 +0000117- Issue #2542: Now that issubclass() may call arbitrary code, ensure that
118 PyErr_ExceptionMatches returns 0 when an exception occurs there.
119
Antoine Pitrou92f82162008-07-25 22:22:08 +0000120- Issue #1819: function calls with several named parameters are now on
121 average 35% faster (as measured by pybench).
122
Amaury Forgeot d'Arce4921fe2008-07-21 22:00:38 +0000123- Issue #2378: An unexpected UnboundLocalError or NameError could appear when
124 the python debugger steps into a class statement: the free variables (local
125 variables defined in an outer scope) would be deleted from the outer scope.
126
Gregory P. Smith0470bab2008-07-22 04:46:32 +0000127- Issue #2620: Overflow checking when allocating or reallocating memory
128 was not always being done properly in some python types and extension
129 modules. PyMem_MALLOC, PyMem_REALLOC, PyMem_NEW and PyMem_RESIZE have
130 all been updated to perform better checks and places in the code that
131 would previously leak memory on the error path when such an allocation
132 failed have been fixed.
133
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000134Library
135-------
136
Hirokazu Yamamoto838c79f2008-08-20 13:14:07 +0000137- Issue #3612: Added some missing basic types in ctypes.wintypes.
138
Benjamin Petersone977ad42008-08-20 01:42:01 +0000139- The methods ``is_in_tuple()``, ``is_vararg()``, and ``is_keywordarg()`` of
140 symtable.Symbol have been deprecated for removal in 3.0 and the next release.
141
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc351ffb82008-08-18 19:23:47 +0000142- Issue #2234: distutils failed for some versions of the cygwin compiler. The
143 version reported by these tools does not necessarily follow the python
144 version numbering scheme, so the module is less strict when parsing it.
145
Nick Coghlanf70385a2008-08-18 12:42:46 +0000146- Issue #2235: Added Py3k warnings for types which will become unhashable
147 under the stricter __hash__ inheritance rules in 3.0. Several types
148 which did not meet the rules for hash invariants and were already
149 unhashable in 3.0 have now been explicitly flagged as unhashable in
150 2.6 as well (collections.Mapping, collections.Set, unittest.TestSuite,
151 xml.dom.minidom.NamedNodeMap, numbers.Number, UserList.UserList)
152
Brett Cannon88f801d2008-08-18 00:46:22 +0000153- Update __all__ for cookielib, csv, os, urllib2, and weakref to include things
154 imported into the module but exposed as part of the module's API.
155
Brett Cannon7b96f072008-08-18 00:41:11 +0000156- Remove an unneeded import of abc.ABCMeta from 'inspect'.
157
Brett Cannon46225e72008-08-18 00:36:52 +0000158- Remove unneeded imports of 'sys' and 'warnings' from 'io'.
159
Brett Cannon25c9d6a2008-08-17 22:10:11 +0000160- Remove unneeded imports of 'warnings' from shelve, filecmp, and dummy_thread.
161
Hirokazu Yamamoto41a81eb2008-08-17 13:10:46 +0000162- Issue #3575: Incremental decoder's decode function now takes bytearray
163 by using 's*' instead of 't#'.
164
Hirokazu Yamamoto7f30a682008-08-17 09:46:56 +0000165- Issue #2222: Fixed reference leak when occured os.rename()
166 fails unicode conversion on 2nd parameter. (windows only)
167
Facundo Batista94f243a2008-08-17 03:38:39 +0000168- Issue 2464. urllib2 now supports a malformation in the URL received
169 in a redirect.
170
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000171- Silence the DeprecationWarning raised when importing mimetools in
Brett Cannon721b1452008-08-16 22:00:27 +0000172 BaseHTTPServer, cgi (and rfc822), httplib.
Brett Cannonabe423e2008-08-16 21:47:07 +0000173
Facundo Batistaeb90b782008-08-16 14:44:07 +0000174- Issue #2776: fixed small issue when handling an URL with double slash
175 after a 302 response in the case of not going through a proxy.
176
Antoine Pitroub90a8be2008-08-15 21:03:21 +0000177- Issue #2676: in the email package, content-type parsing was hanging on
178 pathological input because of quadratic or exponential behaviour of a
179 regular expression.
180
Antoine Pitrou11ec65d2008-08-14 21:04:30 +0000181- Issue #3476: binary buffered reading through the new "io" library is now
182 thread-safe.
183
Brett Cannonbf3157b2008-08-14 05:00:03 +0000184- Silence the DeprecationWarning of rfc822 when it is imported by mimetools
185 since mimetools itself is deprecated. Because modules are cached, all
186 subsequent imports of rfc822 will not raise a visible DeprecationWarning.
187
Antoine Pitrou9fcd4b32008-08-11 17:21:36 +0000188- Issue #3134: shutil referenced undefined WindowsError symbol.
189
Robert Schuppenies14646332008-08-10 11:01:53 +0000190- Issue #1342811: Fix leak in Tkinter.Menu.delete. Commands associated to
191 menu entries were not deleted.
192
Brett Cannon83e81842008-08-09 23:30:55 +0000193- Copied the implementation of reduce() to _functools.reduce() to have a
194 version that did not raise a DeprecationWarning under -3.
195
Antoine Pitrou76b8bee2008-08-09 17:27:23 +0000196- Issue #3205: When iterating over a BZ2File fails allocating memory, raise
197 a MemoryError rather than silently stop the iteration.
198
Guido van Rossum59ce9012008-08-09 14:55:34 +0000199- Issue #3487: sre "bytecode" validator. Passing invalid "re-bytecode"
200 to _sre.compile() will now be rejected. This should not affect anybody
201 since the re.compile() function never generates invalid re-bytecode.
202
Skip Montanaroa032bf42008-08-08 22:52:51 +0000203- Issue #3436: Make csv.DictReader's fieldnames attribute a property so that
204 upon first access it can be automatically initialized from the csv file if
205 it wasn't initialized during instantiation.
206
Brett Cannon3aa2a492008-08-06 22:28:09 +0000207- Issue #2338: Create imp.reload() to help with transitioning to Python 3.0 as
208 the reload() built-in has been removed.
209
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000210- Changed code in the following modules/packages to remove warnings raised
Brett Cannonc1b76e42008-08-09 23:06:16 +0000211 while running under the ``-3`` flag: aifc, asynchat, asyncore, bdb, bsddb,
Brett Cannon047e4a92008-08-17 04:16:04 +0000212 ConfigParser, cookielib, csv, difflib, distutils, DocXMLRPCServer, email,
213 filecmp, fileinput, inspect, logging, modulefinder, pdb, pickle, profile,
214 pstats, pydoc, re, rlcompleter, SimpleXMLRPCServer, shelve, socket,
215 subprocess, sqlite3, tarfile, Tkinter, test.test_support, textwrap,
216 threading, tokenize, traceback, urlparse, wsgiref, xml, xmlrpclib.
Brett Cannon7e30b672008-08-04 21:52:25 +0000217
Lars Gustäbel727bd0b2008-08-02 11:26:39 +0000218- Issue #3039: Fix tarfile.TarFileCompat.writestr() which always
219 raised an AttributeError.
220
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000221- Issue #2523: Fix quadratic behaviour when read()ing a binary file without
Antoine Pitroude781a42008-08-09 12:43:23 +0000222 asking for a specific length. This problem only affected files opened
223 using the new "io" module, not the built-in open() function.
Benjamin Peterson01a24322008-07-28 23:35:27 +0000224
Mark Dickinsonfe84cce2008-07-27 06:39:07 +0000225- Issue #3449: Update decimal module to use most recent specification
226 (v. 1.68) and tests (v. 2.58) from IBM.
227
Skip Montanarof9ac43f2008-07-27 00:50:41 +0000228- Issue 3437: Bug fix in robotparser parsing of Allow: lines.
229
Raymond Hettinger8c664e82008-07-25 18:43:33 +0000230- Issue 1592: Improve error reporting when operations are attempted
231 on a closed shelf.
232
Georg Brandlf9efabb2008-07-23 15:16:45 +0000233- Deprecate the "ast" parser function aliases.
234
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000235- Issue #3120: On 64-bit Windows the subprocess module was truncating handles.
236
237- Issue #3303: Fix a crash in locale.strcoll() when calling it with
238 invalid arguments.
239
240- Issue #3302: Fix several crashes when calling locale's gettext functions
241 with None arguments.
242
243- Issue #3389: Allow resolving dotted names for handlers in logging
244 configuration files.
245
246- Deprecate the sunaudio module for removal in Python 3.0.
247
Antoine Pitrou5fdfa3e2008-07-25 19:42:26 +0000248- Issue #3394: zipfile.writestr sets external attributes when passed a
249 file name rather than a ZipInfo instance, so files are extracted with
250 mode 0600 rather than 000 under Unix.
251
Gregory P. Smitha36f8fe2008-08-04 00:13:29 +0000252- Issue #1857: subprocess.Popen.poll gained an additional _deadstate keyword
253 argument in python 2.5, this broke code that subclassed Popen to include its
254 own poll method. Fixed my moving _deadstate to an _internal_poll method.
255
Martin v. Löwis8dbf3642008-08-01 14:10:26 +0000256Build

260
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000261Documentation
262-------------
263
Nick Coghlan6e8fef02008-08-18 13:14:22 +0000264- Issue #2235: the C API function PyObject_HashNotImplemented and its
265 interaction with the tp_hash slot (added in 2.6b2) are now documented
266
Nick Coghlan2a0c2b12008-08-04 12:47:17 +0000267- Issue #643841: The language reference now provides more detailed
268 coverage of the lookup process for special methods. The disclaimers
269 regarding lack of coverage of new-style classes have also been
270 removed, since the coverage is now fairly reasonable.

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc90d07172008-07-21 21:36:24 +0000276*Release date: 17-Jul-2008*
277
Raymond Hettingere3ae6552008-06-20 04:18:15 +0000278Core and Builtins
279-----------------
280
Georg Brandl3e483f62008-07-16 22:57:41 +0000281- Issue #3156: Fix inconsistent behavior of the bytearray type: all
282 its methods now allow for items objects that can be converted to
283 an integer using operator.index().
284
Mark Dickinson64b7e502008-07-16 09:40:03 +0000285- Issue #3360: Fix incorrect parsing of '020000000000.0', which
286 produced a ValueError instead of giving the correct float.
287
Eric Smitha5fa5a22008-07-16 00:11:49 +0000288- Issue #3083: Add alternate (#) formatting for bin, oct, hex output
289 for str.format(). This adds the prefix 0b, 0o, or 0x, respectively.
290
Mark Dickinson7103aa42008-07-15 19:08:33 +0000291- Issue #3008: the float type has a new instance method 'float.hex'
292 and a new class method 'float.fromhex' to convert floating-point
293 numbers to and from hexadecimal strings, respectively.
294
Nick Coghlan6d6bd442008-07-15 15:40:22 +0000295- Issue #2235: __hash__ is once again inherited by default. To allow
296 collections.Hashable to remain meaningful in the presence of the
297 default hash implementation (object.__hash__), it is now possible
298 to explicit block inheritance of hash by setting __hash__=None at
299 the Python level, or tp_hash=PyObject_HashNotImplemented at the C
300 level.
301
Nick Coghlanb028f502008-07-13 14:52:36 +0000302- Issue #3221: Issue a RuntimeWarning instead of raising SystemError if
303 the parent module cannot be found while performing an absolute import.
304 This means that an incorrectly defined __package__ attribute will
305 now only prevent relative imports in that module rather than causing
306 all imports from that module to fail.
307
Nick Coghlan14ff9942008-07-08 14:21:42 +0000308- Issue #2517: Allow unicode messages in Exceptions again by correctly
309 bypassing the instance dictionary when looking up __unicode__ on
310 new-style classes.
311
Amaury Forgeot d'Arcbdd941f2008-07-01 20:38:04 +0000312- Issue #3242: Fix a crash inside the print statement, if sys.stdout is
313 set to a custom object whose write() method happens to install
314 another file in sys.stdout.
315
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc1f40c8a2008-06-30 22:42:40 +0000316- Issue #3088: Corrected a race condition in classes derived from
317 threading.local: the first member set by a thread could be saved in
318 another thread's dictionary.
319
Mark Dickinson1ec2fcd2008-06-20 14:53:43 +0000320- Issue #3004: Minor change to slice.indices(): the start and stop
321 arguments are now treated identically, making the behaviour easier
322 to describe and understand. For example, slice(None, -10,
323 1).indices(9) now returns (0, 0, 1) instead of (0, -1, 1), and
324 slice(None, 10, -1).indices(10) returns (9, 9, -1) instead of (9,
325 10, -1).

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000841- Issue #1631171: Re-implement the 'warnings' module in C (the
842 original Python code has been kept as backup). This will allow for
843 using the 'warning's machinery in such places as the parser where
844 use of pure Python code is not possible. Both the ``showarning()``
845 and ``formatwarning()`` gain an optional 'line' argument which is
846 not called by default for backwards-compatibility reasons. Setting
847 ``warnings.showwarning()`` to an implementation that lacks support

Mark Hammond495cf992008-04-07 01:53:39 +0000891 extension modules between 32 and 64 bit platforms. See the distutls
892 build documentation for more information.
893
Gregory P. Smithaa63d0d2008-04-06 23:11:17 +0000894- Issue #815646: Individual file objects may now be used from multiple
895 threads at once without fear of crashing the Python interpreter. If
896 file.close() is called while an object is in use by another thread
897 an IOError exception will be raised and the file will not be closed.
898
Thomas Hellerf7906482008-04-04 19:43:25 +0000899- The bundled libffi copy is now in sync with the recently released
900 libffi3.0.5 version, apart from some small changes to
901 Modules/_ctypes/libffi/configure.ac.
902
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000903- Issue #2385: distutils.core.run_script() makes __file__ available,
904 so the controlled environment will more closely mirror the typical
905 script environment. This supports setup.py scripts that refer to
906 data files.

Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000911- Issue #2550: The approach used by client/server code for obtaining
912 ports to listen on in network-oriented tests has been refined in an
913 effort to facilitate running multiple instances of the entire
914 regression test suite in parallel without issue.
915 test_support.bind_port() has been fixed such that it will always
916 return a unique port -- which wasn't always the case with the
917 previous implementation, especially if socket options had been set
918 that affected address reuse (i.e. SO_REUSEADDR, SO_REUSEPORT). The
919 new implementation of bind_port() will actually raise an exception
920 if it is passed an AF_INET/SOCK_STREAM socket with either the
921 SO_REUSEADDR or SO_REUSEPORT socket option set. Furthermore, if
922 available, bind_port() will set the SO_EXCLUSIVEADDRUSE option on
923 the socket it's been passed. This currently only applies to
924 Windows. This option prevents any other sockets from binding to the
925 host/port we've bound to, thus removing the possibility of the
926 'non-deterministic' behaviour, as Microsoft puts it, that occurs
927 when a second SOCK_STREAM socket binds and accepts to a host/port
928 that's already been bound by another socket. The optional preferred
929 port parameter to bind_port() has been removed. Under no
930 circumstances should tests be hard coding ports!
931
932 test_support.find_unused_port() has also been introduced, which will
933 pass a temporary socket object to bind_port() in order to obtain an
934 unused port. The temporary socket object is then closed and
935 deleted, and the port is returned. This method should only be used
936 for obtaining an unused port in order to pass to an external program
937 (i.e. the -accept [port] argument to openssl's s_server mode) or as
938 a parameter to a server-oriented class that doesn't give you direct
939 access to the underlying socket used.
940
941 Finally, test_support.HOST has been introduced, which should be used
942 for the host argument of any relevant socket calls (i.e. bind and
943 connect).
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000944
945 The following tests were updated to following the new conventions:
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000946 test_socket, test_smtplib, test_asyncore, test_ssl, test_httplib,
Trent Nelsone41b0062008-04-08 23:47:30 +0000947 test_poplib, test_ftplib, test_telnetlib, test_socketserver,
948 test_asynchat and test_socket_ssl.
949
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +0000950 It is now possible for multiple instances of the regression test
951 suite to run in parallel without issue.

Amaury Forgeot d'Arc9a0d3462008-03-23 09:55:29 +00001005- Issue #1477: With narrow Unicode builds, the unicode escape sequence
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001006 \Uxxxxxxxx did not accept values outside the Basic Multilingual

1008 'raw-unicode-escape' codec. Now UTF-16 surrogates are generated in
1009 this case, like normal unicode literals and the 'unicode-escape'
1010 codec.

1229
Eric Smitha73fbe72008-02-23 03:09:44 +00001230- Added the future_builtins module, which contains hex() and oct().
1231 These are the PEP 3127 version of these functions, designed to be
1232 compatible with the hex() and oct() builtins from Python 3.0. They
1233 differ slightly in their output formats from the existing, unchanged
1234 Python 2.6 builtins. The expected usage of the future_builtins
1235 module is:
1236 from future_builtins import hex, oct
1237
Eric Smith7ef40bf2008-02-20 23:34:22 +00001238- Issue #1600: Modifed PyOS_ascii_formatd to use at most 2 digit
1239 exponents for exponents with absolute value < 100. Follows C99
1240 standard. This is a change on Windows, which would use 3 digits.
1241 Also, added 'n' to the formats that PyOS_ascii_formatd understands,
1242 so that any alterations it does to the resulting string will be
1243 available in stringlib/formatter.h (for float.__format__).
1244
Eric Smith5a3c1352008-02-19 13:21:56 +00001245- Implemented PEP 3101, Advanced String Formatting. This adds a new
1246 builtin format(); a format() method for str and unicode; a
1247 __format__() method to object, str, unicode, int, long, float, and
1248 datetime; the class string.Formatter; and the C API
1249 PyObject_Format().
1250
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001251- Fixed several potential crashes, all caused by specially crafted
1252 __del__ methods exploiting objects in temporarily inconsistent
1253 state.
Amaury Forgeot d'Arc632fad32008-02-16 20:55:24 +00001254
Vinay Sajipb7edfc42008-04-02 21:10:23 +00001255- Issue #2115: Important speedup in setting __slot__ attributes. Also

1263 in order to allow pymalloc to free more arenas. Python may give back
1264 memory to the OS earlier.
Christian Heimes3b718a72008-02-14 12:47:33 +00001265
Georg Brandl3ee81df2008-05-17 18:14:43 +00001266- Issue #2045: Fix an infinite recursion triggered when printing a
1267 subclass of collections.defaultdict, if its default_factory is set
1268 to a bound method.
